please give examples to what you'd call mainstream country.

Luke Bryan? Honestly I like some of his works (like What She Wants Tonight). Florida Georgia Line? Not my favourite but they have several good chit too

Yes those two are the best examples. Sam Hunt, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Brett Eldredge, Cole Swindell. Each of these artists have specific songs I like but just can't get with them for a full album or anything.

Luke Combs is legit. This performance in some bar with his band is fantastic.

but to balance things out I also dig Kelsie Ballerini and Maren Morris.

Luke Combs is gonna get categorized into mainstream country because he gets so much radio play but he is the classic "made it" guy by killing it in the bars and honky-tonks first

He's 100% bout that life

I've played the old country playlist on Amazon a time or two and I mostly like it- stuff my grandparents used to play.

Checked out my Discovery Mix last week and it was newer country artists that actually sound more like the old guard. Some decent sounding stuff, though I didn't pay attention to any specifics.

I usually have the college station, classic rock, rock, pop, or alternative on in the car. Some pop music lately I just can't- lousy singing w/lots of autotune (or whatever) and some super annoying sounds in the mix.

There is one song I've heard a time or two on the college station that I can't stand. First time it was on it bugged me because there was something that sounded like a telephone busy signal. Gets to the end of the song and the other stuff drops out and it's...

a telephone busy signal.

Maybe I'm just too old.

Incorrect. 80 & 90s country will always be GOAT. In particular, the '87-'97 decade is about as good as it gets.

These two were new to me this past week

Hardy

Trey Lewis- if Sloots gon sloot was a song lol

Big fan of Riley Green. Wife and I ran up to see Cody Johnson’s Hometown Throwdown in 2019 and he opened for him as well as a The Steel Woods. That was a great show

His golden saw series on youtube was really enjoyable for my long commute

And this song hits me in the feels for some reason
