Riddle me this: What do these 2 lists of cities have in common?

List #1
San Diego, California
Honolulu, Hawaii
Portland, Oregon
Seattle Washington

List #2
Anchorage, Alaska
Fargo, North Dakota
Salt Lake City, Utah
Cheyenne, Wyoming

Can anyone figure out the puzzle?
E.g. list 1 has something in common, list 2 has another thing in common.

They are mutually exclusive lists.

List 2 is the most populous city in each state.

List 1 is all coastal cities.

Salt Lake City and Anchorage are deep blue liberal chitholes.

I'll give you another guess.

Raped for effort, but no.

You seem to be the smartest one, so you have the best chance of getting it.

We need more data then. With only 4 cities on each list you can find a lot of similarities.

Here's another hint, why do liberals move to list#1.

Why don't liberals move to list #2.

Misc is no fun today. Riddle must have been too big brained.

List 1 = minimum weather variance between winter and summer

List 2 = extreme weather variance between winter and summer.

Unbelievable, my sources show me that the avg temperature is 45 degrees in Seattle. You probably forgot to turn off the AC.

My source shows portland as getting as hot as 73 degrees, as cold as 40 in the day. You must be hearing it wrong.

In California, 40 is like the coldest it gets and as hot as 110.
