What are you currently doing with your Student Loans?

Just wondering what everybody is currently doing with their remaining student loan balances.

I've got $7k left (down from $45k) and I go back and forth weekly about what to do....

-Take advantage of the forbearance, pay it off and save on the interest.
-Dont make any payment and put the $400/month towards mortgage or whatever else
-Dont make any payments under the assumption that they'll be wiped away (highly unlikely)

I just dont want to pay them off, then be sitting here like a fuk when ol' JB wipes the slate clean and I dumped 7k when I didn't need to.

I've just been putting the $400 (that would be the payment) into an account under the assumption that as of Sept 2021 they'll be due again then I'll just dump that balance into it and pay it off asap.

What are yall boyos thoughts on it?

Using the money I'd pay monthly on the loans to aggressively pay down all other debt

Still have $13k left in loans with the expectation that Biden will grant $10k payments to anyone who has taken out a federal student loans from years xxxx to now (srs) thats how I think student loan forgiveness will play out. I'd recommend paying down any high interest loans, but paying the minimum on anything else

The only caveat is that I wouldn't be surprised if student loan forgiveness was income-based... my engineering degree was a very fair price to pay and I could see people like myself not receiving any loan forgiveness... its really only the liberal art students and equivalent who need the help

I'm in the same boat. Everything I've been reading is saying Biden administration will forgive minimum $10k and some Dems are pushing for up to $50k. So I'm just sitting on a lump sum and waiting to see what happens.

This is what I'm really leaning towards.

I'll probably play the fence between accumulating the lump sum to pay off in 8 months, and pay extra on mortgage (my only other debt)

I could totally see that if they were going to do it at all.

Yeah I think I'm gonna end up doing national guard to help a bit. I gotta get some hard data on how much I would earn and the commitment required.

And then I got med school, yay.

It's barely any interest rate on student loans in Norway, so I'm going to pay it off as slowly as legally possible,

really depends what the degree is. I swear some of these people, albeit a very small %, are going into large corporations and making bank heading diversity and inclusion initiatives.

The american system seems kinda fcked, so I guess forgiving student loan might not be the worst thing althought I don't think it will solve the real issues.

In Norway the tuitions on universities costs about 30-60 dollars for a semester, so it's basically nill. You are forgiven up 40% of the basic student loan when completing your courses, the interest rate is very low interest (close to the consumer price index).

I have less than $5k now and initially I was paying even through the forbearance but now that Biden said he might forgive the $10,000 below for federal then I opted back in to pause it so we'll see what happens come September.

Just lol @ anyone that thinks their loans will be wiped. These crooks argued 9 months to give us $600, keep your expectations real and wait for a $25 walmart gift card from pelosi and mitch
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

-I'd rather live life saying "I failed" than "I could have"

Keep paying if you can. That interest is still adding on while you are in forbearance.

About $11k at less than 4% interest. I’ve always paid the minimum on them but might clear them off in the near future here
