Bitcoin is still not currency, there is no stability, sure it's an asset and any asset can be used to facilitate a transaction but you need stability for success as a currency.
There is a long way to go for it to stabilize. It probably requires widespread abandonment of FIAT money or something equally as radical.
Might happen who knows but until you can price a loaf of bread in bitcoin and be able to sell that bread at the same price for a number of weeks it won't be a viable currency.
