What fitness / diet / health habits do you do daily & swear by?
Planning on looks/healthmaxxing because lifes short and I dont want to end up with dementia or chitting my pants in an old peoples home at 60.
My diet really isn't too bad atm, but I snack too much on high sugar/processed food and drink too much - but I'm aware of it and planning on changing it drastically.
I wanna know what do you guys do on a daily basis that you swear has made a difference to your overall health/happiness/physique/looks?
I'm thinking of swapping out all red meat for white meat + fish, as there seems to be tons of links with red meat and cancer, heart disease, stroke, blood pressure etc and white meat + fish is lower calories anyway and doesnt have those correlations.
My daily rules are going to look a bit like this:
1gram of protein per lb of bodyweight
0.4g of fat per lb of bodyweight (for natty test levels, mental awareness, libido, brain functioning etc)
Rest on carbs
Avoid processed / refined foods
Keep alcohol to special occasions only
Keep sugars low (except from natural sugars, but still keep them in check)
High + Varied vegetables, mainly greens.
No Dairy (or very low if at all)
No Bread / Wheat
One piece of fruit a day
4 Litres (UK) of Water / day
Multivitamins +/ Vitamin D supplement to boost immune system and top up anything im missing out on (diet should be good anyway, but will pee out the excess)
15K steps daily (easily done with a high energy dog)
Workout 6 days a week (although the 6th day will be abs/calves/traps - like small muscles).
No more than 8 hours sleep/day + no screen time 1 hour before bed.
Starting Cardio (running) twice per week. I used to be really, really into my cardio, but then dropped it to just walking and now I get out of breath easily on a run or a bike ride. I think its important for your skin to sweat a few times a week too.
Skincare
Body exfoliate / Face scrub in the shower
Moisturise 2x a day
Eye cream
anti-aging moisturizer
Hyaluronic acid pre evening moisturising
What do people think about meditation / mindfulness / yoga / stretching type of stuff?
Any essential supplements / vitamins / nootropics ?
Any other skincare products that you noticed had a big difference over time ?
Daily bedtime alarms (go to bed / wake up?)
Benefits of knocking out caffeine all together?- I'm an ex caffeine addict, used to hit monsterous pre workotus before every gym sesh and start the day with a few coffees, but cutting that back. I hate the idea of having to take pre workouts or coffees just to have a "normal" workout and would rather save it for when I really cbf or dont have energy as a boost.

Why would you be decrepit at 60? Instead you're going to be chitting your pants in an old peoples home at 93 wishing you drank and smoked more lol

Keto and intermittent fasting
I see bread, sugar, and milk as being close to poison. For me at least. Once I took those foods behind the woodshed and shot them dead, life has been pretty damn great for me.

Eat whole foods. Listen to your body listen to how you feel, listen to what your cravings.
My only rule is that I eat only whole real foods at home which covers 90% of my calories.
I have also made an effort to eat mostly fish (wild) but i still eat some meat just try to get as real of meat as possible, either game or grass fed or whatever the animals natural diet is.
Everything else just falls into place for me when I do that. At least from health perspective.
Obviously fitness goals like gaining or losing muscle or whatever else might require something more deliberate.

Probably feels great if you live in a nice scenic area.Walking is GOAT srs.
Going to add swimming soon too. Used to swim before COVID and then stopped last year but I want to get back to that.

I make sure I always eat several servings of vegetables daily. They’re filling, low calorie and ensure I get plenty of V/m/phytos.
I probably banged your mom.
Eat the whole animal like a real man.

Working out consistently. I’ve always been big into cardio, to a fault. I’ve successfully implemented it as a supplement to lifting and I don’t get burned out as often and I still feel amazing and like my conditioning is through the roof
Started training legs beyond just squats
5-6 DOW I eat “clean” and keto/low carb. I’ll have one cheat day, typically Saturday, where I’ll have pizza or something. My body just feels so much better on low carb. I’m not into the fad diets just to fad diet but I’ve messed around with many different ways of eating etc and I just perform and feel better with extremely low net carbs. I’ve been IF’ing for years though, regardless. I’m so used to training fasted and all of that. It just works for me. I’d never try to sell that or keto as a fix all for everyone, I just experimented and listened to my body and have it down. I play hockey so an intense cardio sport and even on extremely low carb etc, I feel amazing in game and when I use the tread to run for cardio, performance is legit too.

Best advise I could give you OP :
Do this 3 times a week mini along with cold showers and work your way up to ice baths.
It's a combo tbh but you don't have to be anal about it else you will give up quick, allow yourself some pleasures.
Basics are the breathing above / getting used to cold / some kind of general cardio training / some kind of strength training / some kind of flexibility training and most important of all, spend time with family / friends.

All those rules and stuff is often just as much as sickness as someone who has no discipline at all
There's a point of diminishing returns with being healthy/fit/looking good
Let's say at some point an action was worth 1 whole happiness point and 1 effort point... well at some point the amount of happiness you receive for 1 effort point degrades to 0.1, say, and the amount of effort itself takes away a certain amount of happiness
Basically, at some point the effort to reward ratio isn't justifiable.
But we all have our own judgements on what makes something worth it... maybe you're a person that gets off on having a lot of rules to follow and that increases your happiness. We're all different, but just don't become some kinda fitness/routine drone without considering that it might not be optimal for overall life gains
