Merovingian11's Music Thread.

I have a thread I've been updating every few days in the R/P subforum.

https://forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com/showt...post1616117431

The people there are kinda boring so I decided to start a new one here.

This guy is a phenomenal drummer and I love the original song by Depeche Mode.

He does covers of a wide range of songs and nails it every time.

I have sampled every language and French is my favorite to curse in.

Drummer huh?? I always knew you were a weirdo.

But srsly, nothing makes you appreciate the art of drumming more than sitting behind a set and trying to play. End up looking like a monkey trying to fukk a football and sounding horrible. I probably could’ve gotten decent with enough dedication, but they definitely didn’t come naturally to me like guitar. I think it takes a weird combination of the musical aspect of being right-brained and the structural aspect of being left-brained....which most people don’t have.

Lol, repped. Post a song bro. All my bros.

OK, gonna change it up cuz I do a fair bit of composing and this score is really good.

I used to have the action figures from the movie, they had cool mini bow and arrows and real cloth outfits. They got thrown away by my dad or his hoor girlfriend or something.

The middle part isn't as good but the first part and the outro when he arrives on the coast of England is amazing.

Scroll to around 5:45 for some beautiful French Horn.

Yea it's a little backwards with that early snare hit.

I've found if you program it in a DAW drum machine or sequencer it can help you wrap your head around it sometimes.

These kind of beats always mess with my head, I've got a few more songs I'll update with that have interesting grooves later. Cheers mate.

Yeah, that’s a strong soundtrack. I actually have a pandora station created for nothing but tracks from movies because I think it’s some of the most under-appreciated music out there.

But today I’ll drop in something I saw/heard a few years ago that just blew me away because I think it may be the best example of one man turning a guitar into an entire band. Also because Buckingham is so underrated.

Can’t find a good clip with just Big Love so you get a bonus with this clip

Nice, I'm glad you liked it.

I'll see your 'Big Love' and raise you a 'Timebomb Town'.

Couple more classic scores.

As promised here's a strange reverse beat intro. I've gotten close before I think but it's really quite odd.

I have several on my mind but this will have to do for now.

I feel like this song needs some explaining because lots of people will probably write it off quickly, when actually they’d realize it is one of the best songs when it comes to love and moving on. Few songs have a better combination of lyrics and music to match the emotions being presented. We’ve all known someone(probably loved someone) who had so much potential yet couldn’t reach it/couldn’t control themselves and couldn’t be trusted/ and sometimes maybe even seemed cursed to make bad decisions. Accepting that and moving on is sad and liberating at the same time, and I think this song does a good job of expressing that.

Sometimes I wonder where you're coming from
When you roll in like thunder just to turn around and run
It's a good thing I don't need you to stay

You smell like moonlight and early morning rain
Pray til a fool but surrender to your pain
Or find a cure for your decay

[Chorus:]
You're at your best with an ache in your chest
And that worn out old song that you play
Only Jesus and you who long to teach us
Should know and be left to betray

I don't know the answer but I know who to blame
You can choose the dancer if you could choose the flame
I think you'll find they're one in the same
It doesn't have to be this way

[Chorus]

I don't know the answer but I know who to blame
Pray til a fool but surrender to your pain
It's a good thing I don't need you to stay

Sometimes I wonder where you're coming from
When you roll in like thunder just to turn around and run
It's a good thing I don't need you to stay
It doesn't have to be this way

The video has an extended into if you're into it, otherwise just stick to the shorter album track.

I'm always listening to this one tune. You do realize he used editing software for some of the drum effects right? He used acoustic drums for the loop and then edited the entire track for the final draft.
