And this is why both of my sons have been in BJJ and wrestling since 3. I will let them do some kickboxing if they want when they start middle school.

Loved how calm the wrestlers were before the action. Would have been much more humbling if he were able to put the guy to sleep. Thats where the BJJ comes in.

OU football player Spencer Jones picked a fight against a guy with a decade of MMA training at an OU bar this past weekend.

Oklahoma Sooners football player Spencer Jones was recently involved in a bar fight that reportedly almost resulted in the receiver and holder losing his left eye. The Oklahoma Daily -- the independent, student publication at the university -- reported that Jones, a redshirt senior, was involved in an incident that occurred "in the late hours between Saturday, Feb. 13 and Sunday, Feb. 14" at Logies on the Corner on 749 Asp Ave. , adjacent to Oklahoma's campus and a short walk away from Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

On Friday, an undated video surfaced of what was reported by The Daily to be the said incident involving Jones in the restroom at Logies. Multiple individuals were involved in the altercation, as the footage revealed

According to The Daily, Woodrow Glass, who is serving as the Jones family's legal representation, said that Jones was "lucky that he didn't lose his eye altogether" as a result of the incident and has since undergone surgery performed by Norman-based surgeon Dr. Perry Brooks. Glass added that Jones was trying to de-escalate the situation before the brawl ultimately broke out between him and several other individuals.

“Dr. Brooks came out of that surgery saying (Jones) is extraordinarily lucky at this point, that he’s lucky he didn’t lose the eye altogether,” Glass told The Daily. “And so he was able to do some things surgically to rebuild that orbital socket and thinks everything is eventually going to come back to normal, but it’s going to take a while for him to fully recover ... unfortunately, (the situation) wasn’t de-escalated despite (Jones') best efforts, and he became the victim of this vicious assault you’ve seen."

Per the report, Glass said an investigation into the matter is ongoing. Norman Public Information Officer Sarah Jensen additionally declined immediate comment due to the incident being classified as a "non-emergency matter."

According to OU Insider's Joey Helmer, The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department has confirmed that it is aware of the situation, but declined any further comment on the matter.

Jones, who previously played at Liberty before transferring to Oklahoma, served as the holder on all placekicks in all 11 games for the Sooners in 2020. Jones is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and was named the 2018 Scout Team Player of the Year.

There is obviously much more to this than shown in the video..

One guy already has a bloody nose and one guy checks out his chin in the mirror to see if he is bleeding.

It just so happens to be the guy that is checking out his chin in the mirror is the same guy that pushes the guy with the bloody nose. They've already been fighting.

The guy that gets punched is because of mistaken identity from the push and actually appears to be trying to de-escalate.

Show me the time stamp he has an aggressive posture or has fists...I've watched it numerous times and dont see any indication he is wanting a scrap. I cant hear what he is saying but he doesnt even look mad.
