**** like Little Women -- they've made that movie like 5 times now.

I think it's because women have an obsession with the fancy gowns and big castles and ****. The luxury and elitism of it all.

I'm tired of seeing this **** all the time. What happened to good old fashioned Roman period pieces? Epic chamber orgies and gladiator fights and ****.

the short answer is women OP.
“The Misc. is a stone-faced Uncle Sam with Popeye’s forearms and a cocked pistol in each hand. It’s a screeching bald eagle with a foreign Bad Thing in its talons. It’s everything that defines America’s bro culture, magnified and weaponized. But it’s deeper than that.“

5000 years of history and yet "historical" setting dramas and movies only focus on like 40 years of it. WTF.

No black would have been allowed within a nautical mile of the palace.... until Harry's dad of course, and then that halfcast that Harry married to cover up the black DNA discrepancy in harrys child..

there are a few reasons,

i saw an interview with Alan Moore where he spoke on a similar phenomenon and basically it's because people from once great and historied nations like to look back upon the "good old days", especially when times are not so great now

also, these period pieces and stuff like Harry Potter are very popular all around the world, they sell a kind of vision of the UK that doesn't really exist for most people, kind of like that Paris Syndrome thread that was floating around yesterday

Because women are consoomers and were raised to be a princess.

They care so much about their chit career in the real world, but fantasize about being a princess who is taken care of and has no real worries other than gossip and drama.

They forget the most important qualities these women really had back then. Thin, Agreeable, Feminine.

It should go both ways if people are sincere about promoting diversity. I for one would love to see an Indian Julius Caeser romancing a Japanese Cleopatra while a scheming Polynesian Brutus conspires with an Ethiopian Gaius Cassius.

I didn't know that!Too cool. It's positively heartwarming. I think Dame Judy Dench has conditioned me, I hear her voice and am compelled to just stitch and binge all of it.

The reason is simple. The British people were sick and tired of only having access to American content so they forced the hands of all streamers to either start making native content for them, GTFO.

It's a 'what if' storyline that could have kind of occurred if british royalty fell in love with a black person a 150 years before it actually did.
