Reloaded was OK.

But the first movie could have stood on its own without needing to be part of a trilogy. It was nearly perfect.

The reason the first Matrix was the best was because it was meant to be the only one. The Wachowskis had to pull things out of their ass(figuratively in this occasion) to make two sequels. The first Matrix ends with Neo basically being a god. That's it. He's too strong at that point. But in the sequels, he's basically back at step one and there are villains who can all of a sudden match him? What? That's why the sequels seems to convoluted and clumsy.
