Earlier in the video he says "If you want a healthy heart, go out for a walk three times a week, 20 minutes, that's it"
Thoughts?

There are a lot of benefits to the 10 minute walks. Youtube Stan Efferding 10min walks. Tons of valuable information.
EDIT: Misread the thread, 3 walks a week for 20 min? Not gonna cut it.

I'm far from a long distance runner lmao but I think an hour per day mixed running and walking is the tits.

long distance for a out of shape phuck like him is probably 4 miles
ultrarunning is not healthy and no one in the community disputes that. Casual running 2-3 times a week is great for knee and back health and obviously good for your hearts and lungs. add in 2-3 sessions of resistance training and you're golden.

long distance running is proven to be bad for you
also research shows that marathon runners have smaller brains. the brain actually shrinks the body uses the fatty tissue for energy
https://www.newscientist.com/article...%20stimulation.
there is actually 0 benefit to long distance running, it's all negative

On the second statement, I also remember listening to a barbell medicine podcast where they spoke about the level of aerobic fitness one needs to possess in order to prevent premature mortality and morbidity and the threshold is actually quite low (can't remember exact figures but a lot lower than I would have imagined).
