Need some opinions misc(srs post)

So my wife and I had boost mobile for about a year. Got tired of the crappy service and switched to ATT keeping our numbers. We have had ATT over a year now. My wife had issues with people calling her and it going straight to busy signal. We went to the store multiple times and they never could figure it out, whatever. So today I tried calling my wife during lunch break at work and it gave a weird message this person isn’t accepting phone calls right now.

Fast forward and I get a call from her friends phone and it’s my wife saying her phone isn’t working at all. I get home and sure enough it wasn’t her just being done it wasn’t working. Call att support. Transferred and hung up on multiple times. I finally get told they didn’t forward the port correctly ATT blaming boost. I say OK what’s the resolution. They tell me to call boost and get my old account number and they will fix it. Do that, get “disconnected” a couple more times before being told that didn’t work. Now I get told since it’s been over a year I’ll have to have boost re activate the number and get a new account number so they can transfer it. Blown away tell them they will be paying the activation fee right? Finally get told yes they will.

Call boost and get told since it was over a year ago there is nothing they can do about activating that specific number. Call sprint and see if they can since they own boost, it’s a no go.

My wife has to have that number, we have a lot attached to it including immigration stuff for her papers as well as some other things. She has had the number 10 years.

ATT had a year to fix this. They did not mention anything about this ONE time over 10+ visits to the store as well as multiple phone calls. They also did not call me and notify me about what happened this morning. I’m going to record the conversation with whatever supervisor calls me when/if they do or I’ll just call and record it tomorrow and post it for the misc.

What are my options misc? I’m going to browse TOS but they have had to violate something as well as losing a number we have had for 10 years. Do I have any legal standing? I know they will offer me a discount on my next bill but I’m out for blood. I’m tempted to ask for all my payments back and canceling my contract. I got multiple “I’ve never seen anything like this before” and ONE apology.

What do misc? I promise the recording will bring lulz.

I can kinda understand how difficult this must be, between immigration and whatever other essential things are linked to that number. But I would consider that this isn't anyone's fault who deserves the hammer dropped on them. Surely someone somewhere along the line dropped the ball, some file transfer or something never happened, and now you've lost your very important number. I won't try and put a damper on your rage, but honestly it might be more beneficial to consider what course of action you could take to ensure you link your accounts with a new number.

Phones numbers change brah. Some people still have #'s that are decades old, sure. But it's fewer and fewer. I'm sure there are better accommodations for a change in contact info than bringing hell and high water to a corporation like AT&T! Chit man. It ain't worth it. my .02
