Do people really live in houses by themselves?
Misc - renting is dumb, buy a house
Also misc - getting married and having kids is dumb
So are all of you just living in houses by yourself? What do you do with all those extra bedrooms?
Srs question

I'm divorced and have two kids who each have their own bedroom when I have them. And I also wanted a fenced backyard for my dog. And I can afford it.

The move is buying a small house, minimal square footage, minimal coin. Then you can build everything you need to have sloots over. Jacuzzi, sauna, and home gym, things that pump your endorphins. Having all these in your home is everything. Add a float tank and you're set.

Yup, I own 2 houses. Rent one and live in one by myself. The freedom is nice and having someone move in would be an adjustment. I walk around naked every night and have women over when I feel like it. It's nice

Are you even a man is you don't have a garage for toys, projects, and at least one car nice enough not to leave outside?
Big house to myself. Great investment and fun to entertain family / friends.
Plus, privacy and not having to hear or be heard from others.
And of course, women love it.

My bedroom, office/gym, guest bedroom/craft room. Honestly kicking myself a bit I didn't go with a four bedroom.

Absolutely. 1585 square foot. 3 bed 2 bath and a 2 car garage.
-Master bedroom is where I sleep/bang. (Also occasionally bang in the living room).
-1 bedroom is a guest room. With a spare bed, dresser, etc. Nobody will live in this room but if someone needs to crash a few days that's fine.
-1 bedroom is a home office. I keep my computer/desk, safe (Its a big gun safe), filing cabinet for paperwork, book shelves with books, etc. in there.
-I park my truck, motorcycle, kayaks and riding lawn mower in the garage. Keep my work vehicle (Ford Explorer) in the drive-way.
I've always had a lot of outdoor interests so I've accumulated a lot of stuff. Between hunting, fishing, kayaking, motorcycles, scuba diving/snorkeling, snowboarding, mountain biking, etc. I need a large space to store all of my stuff.
My girlfriend and I have been together for awhile and she's starting to talk about moving in together. However we've both come to the conclusion even if its just the two of us, we'd need a bigger space.
I also want a detached 500-600 square foot garage/man-cave on the property as well. She's complete on board with that.
I envision something like the below so I have a place to store my stuff. Maybe park a motorcycle or two, a couple of dirtbikes, a quad, a boat, etc. And have a chill spot when she has her friends over. I ran across this concept of garage on bottom man-cave on top. I think it would be perfect.

My 87 year old mother-in-law has lived on her own for the past 15 years in a huge 4 bedroom detached house and she hardly moves from her chair in the front room.
But she wont move, too many memories locked up in the house and she doesn't like change. I think there are a lot of old people like this in the UK.

Master is obv for sleeping and clothes. Use it for nothing else.
2nd BR is for friends when they visit/stay. Closet used for extra storage.
3rd BR has been converted to an office, music listening, books, camping/workout equipment.
Basement - Built a theatre down there. Use it for nothing else other than live concerts, movies or sports.
Garage is extra large, have a weekend and daily in there, along with tools and lawn stuff.
Can't imagine another person sharing my 1500sqft space. It honestly feels kinda small when I have people visit. Feel pretty lucky tbh.

When someone is young and unable to live alone in a large space. They get used to being packed into a small space. Have room mates. No real privacy. Etc. As you mature and enjoy a bit more financial freedom and get to experience spreading out a bit more its hard to imagine going back.
I'm sure people in cramped cities just never get to experience that unless they are wealthy AF.

Mostly agreed. Either way existence seems fuked though, alone for prolonged time. Sometimes I wish I lived in the mountains with a family or small village community. Peaceful life with community. Beats the incessant materialism and indulgences of modern society.

I think it'd be great to live in a house all by myself, but you gotta watch out for those spies and those with an extreme, distorted sense of morality and values who may try and do some bad sh*t to you...

After my kids are out of the house I'm totally selling it and buying a camper, small plot of land on the outskirts, and building a 4 car garage with a loft to live out the rest of my days.
All I need room for is a corvette, sportbike, boat and tools.
