Why the PHOOK are taxes so complicated?

Trying to do my taxes and I get all these papers from robinhood, webull, my job and theresa million fuggin boxes and a million fuggin names for everything.

Taxes should be two numbers, the amount of money you made and what you owe. Thats it

This, Inuit lobby’s hard to keep the feds from just doing it or issuing software for everybody.

For most people it’s not that complicated.
Pro tip: if you get a letter from the IRS don’t ignore that chit. A prompt response will go a long way, and once you’re sent to collections that’s when the real angus peppering starts. Early on, you have a lot of options.

I do taxes for a living and I can tell you they are way more complicated than they need to be. I guess that’s why I have a job though.

It's to keep the billion dollar accounting industry in business. It should not be that difficult that the average schmo is worried that he'll get arrested every year and never actually knows for sure if he'll get a return or owe money.

I don't know, man. My tax filings are pretty straight forward with very little complexity, but I do go to a CPA because the guy is knowledgeable and has my best interest in mind. My tax returns are much higher than they otherwise be if I did it myself (I've done the comparison), all for $60. You can't beat that type of value with a stick.
Your schtick sucks and it screams insecurity.

As technology and commerce have evolved, new forms of wealth and returns have been created, meaning further oversight and regulation. And of course balancing the tax burdens on varying income levels over time. It's a complicated system to begin with. I try not to blame the government cause they didn't really ask for this, it's just been a developing game since the beginning.

What alarms me is the fact that your situation is a reality. You should be able to get back the maximum amount you deserve. If the IRS has all of your tax data, then mailing you all of it and asking you to confirm before issuing you a refund or asking for money shouldn’t be that hard to do.
