For those who are out of college/university/undergrad

I keep seeing in threads “how to meet women as an adult” along with “what is there to do in life besides work and lift” type threads so I was curious who all plays rec league or intramural sports?

I haven’t seen a thread like this, but this is always a suggestion to incels/people who do the 9/5, eat, lift, sleep routine. Thought this could be a good thread to give others who need it some ideas and I’m generally curious. Also feel free to post maybe individual activities you compete/partake in like biking or hiking, but definitely interested to see who has continued to play sports into adulthood

I play rec league ice hockey and inline hockey. I’m well past caring about winning or losing and I’ve made some of my best friends after undergrad through hockey. Srs. I’d say out of my 7 CLOSEST friends, 5 I met through hockey years ago. I play down in their leagues as I’m way past competing and just love the social aspect of it. I always joke I’d be content warming up with a puck by myself for the duration instead of playing the game. This sport is expensive, so definitely not for people who’s money is right, but it is a blast, even if you can barely skate. During covid we did an organized tournament as the leagues shut down and most of them were new/not so good players and it was awesome seeing them make strides(pun intended)

I’ll mess around at my local park with my lacrosse stick. There are nets there, but it’s more a way for me to just let of steam, and it’s a solo activity. There are pickup indoor lacrosse games here on Monday nights, but I’m not good enough to feel comfortable playing nor do I have any equipment left.

I bought a cheap “pitchback” thing from target, so I can play catch with myself with a baseball. I have a sick glove. I actually thought about joining a league, but I’d much rather do kickball as it’s less competitive and more fun

There is a group that organizes sports much like meetup.com. Hockey is it’s own thing, but this group does soccer, kickball etc.

So misc, what sports do you all still play and feel free to drop ideas for those who may want to just meet people in a fun social environment via athletics!
