There...I said it.

I work remotely for a company that pays well above what I'll make if I were to get a job in the town I live, but I'm getting to the point where I don't even care anymore.

Have been working from home since May 2020. Noticing the following, not just at work but in overall life....

-Decrease in productivity
-Decrease in discipline
-Decrease in social ability
-Perceived decrease in conversational functionality when in social situations
-Decrease in initiative
-Decrease in happiness with my career path.
-Decrease in feeling of accomplishment
-Increase in procrastination
-Decrease in Hygiene
-Feeling stagnant.

Maybe it's just my brain playing tricks on me because I feel I'm stagnant/settling.

Thinking about starting to plan my next move.

Any others feeling the same?

I'm loving the workers from home, less traffic on the roads is amazing.

yeah working from home sucks, I'd rather go to the office

I got sent home last year in March for about 2 months (strict lockdown) but returned as soon as it was allowed lol

since November WFH is mandatory again but I just kept going to the office until end of January when I got sent home officially by HR lmfao

Company I work for is based in Miami and the projects I'm working on are in the Virgin Islands.....I live in Georgia.

Been working from home a year now and have noticed some pros and cons.

I'm saving a lot more money (gas, impulse fast food) but I have noticed a drop off in how I socialize in person.

Like I'm not as polished as I used to be.

Recommend me a company for a remote job with starting pay of $40k+

I have an undergrad in Geology, but average $50-60k selling cars (100% commission).

I've been working from home since pandemic and IMO its goat. Enjoying while it lasts..because it won't last forever

- way less dealing with bosses / annoying co workers
- no more parking tickets or traffic jams on the way to work
- more sleep

- can work from the comfort of your own home

- less supervision from management

No more blowing money on fast food since thats the only thing around on lunch break

No more putting up with office slops and germs and ppl who don't wash hands after using washroom

Whats not to like ?

Hell , when we get sent back ill look for another job to WFH

Working from home is the greatest.

I actually get more work done from home ever since I invested in a pimpin' setup. My workstation at home is better than the one at work.

I've basically worked remote and alone for a year and a half now while doing my master's and have hated it.

I think if I were to go for it, I'd definitely try to create my own office - e.g. camp out at a cafe/public workspace, then I can at least interact with regulars and have a different location for work vs. home/leisure.

My experience was probably especially bad because I was broke and really overworked in my lab, but I don't really see working alone at home being enjoyable for me. Maybe if I changed the "at home" and "alone" aspects though, it'd be good.

I do sometimes, but for me, those things are easy enough to correct and I have tools to correct quickly.

I also think remote work isn't for everyone and that's completely okay. I'm not sure that any amount of money is acceptable if you're feeling stagnant, and you should definitely move on if you're feeling that way. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Social skills require practice just like any other skill

At least Teams meetings are helping me stay relatively sharp in conversation, but in-person might be a bit more of a struggle

I couldn't socialize for chit at my current office anyway so it makes no difference to me .
Id like to make some Friends but there weren't many like minded ppl where I work

And I got the reputation of that " quiet guy " so I just ran with it.

I was depressed out of my fuhkin mind working in a cubicle 10+ hours a day. Never been happier working half naked blasting some tunes srs. Been more productive as well. From a business standpoint it's also a lot more economical for employers who allow WOH. Don't think I can go back to commuting to and working in an office.
