So someone I know owes about $30K in back child support to her ex husband. Been paying and supporting the kids but not enough so it's slipped behind. She is receiving quite a bit of money in an inheritance. She knows she is going to have to pay it, but how. Here is the thing about the father. He is very poor, has been his whole life. The real reason he fought to get custody was so he could get the welfare benefits. He has depended on child support for cash income. He basically only works enough so he can get earned income credit. I think his longest period of employment in the last 20 years has been 9 months. Not really a man. Lives in a ratty single wide trailer in the woods in the poorest area of Georgia. He isn't smart with money. The goal is to give it to him the best way to hope he blows it. Yes, giving it to him in one lump sum and be done with it, but getting $30K all at once, he might buy property or something enough to spend it wisely. Can't pay it too slow, interest. Trying to figure out the best way to give it to him so he waste it, and then he will be left with nothing.

Backstory on how he got full custody was he just made constant CPS/DFCS complaints and accusations. For whatever reason, they don't punish people for making false reports. Finally got one to stick. She was put on trial, and it was found that the kids were coached that when their father was away, their story changed and they denied it happened. He took the kids and ran around the country. When she finally caught up with them, they were so brainwashed that she was evil it's taken the past 10 years for he to build a relationship with her. Since they have become adults, they have come around that they know she didn't do what they said, and admitted their family brainwashed them. The son confronted the dad about it and the dad punished him for it. Took his playstation away (that she bought him) and wouldn't get anything but crappy food for him and his sister.
