After 3 1/2 years sober, I have really trashed my sobriety this week
I just woke up from a terrible drunk and now I'm drinking again because I was starting to go into withdrawals bad.
I'm sorry if I said anything horrible to any of you in the past two or three days. To be honest I don't know what I've said or done here and my primary computer just got broken so I can't even go through my history.
I'm 48 yrs old and quit drinking in July 2017 after being an alcoholic for many years.
I did good for those 3 1/2 years and didn't cheat a single time. I had periods of sobriety in the past but there was always cheats but there was no cheats this time.
Well I have screwed that all to hell now and it has come back with a vengeance.
Dudes, please try extremely hard not to let yourselves succumb to alcoholism. It's a terrible terrible insidious thing and it will get you if you let it.
I'm requesting a one month ban from this forum.I've got to get a handle on myself and the attraction of this forum should not be a part of that.
I've got a good doctor who knows my history very well and I am going there first thing this morning. I'm considering going to rehab - not because I'm far enough along this time to need serious detox again, but simply because I know WTF is up and I don't want to get to that point again.
Man I'm scared, really scared. I'll see you all soon. Don't let yourselves get like this. It's effed up far beyond what you want to know.
One month ban requested. Thanks mods and sorry if I've done anything wrong here. Good luck everyone. This forum is the greatest.

No need to be scared. YOU WILL BE OK. I didnt see any real chit posting from you, did notice you made a few more threads than usual. All good. You are an OG in my eyes.
You had a little slip up, 3 1/2 years of no slip ups is impressive for someone who thinks they had a problem.
I know your struggle and honestly Im proud of you for this post.
Good luck.

Hey, Luke... I’ve been here man.
Really let this sink in:
You didn’t “trash” your sobriety.
You had a bad week.
Relapse does not discount the fact that you went ~1,300 days sober in a row.
If you don’t do meetings and shyt like that, I recommend you ween yourself off (use your willpower, programs say this isn’t a thing, but it is. You can do it); but then, you must stopon the last day, andreallyhold yourself to it. You can come back here so we can hold you accountable. You can PM me if you want, I’m here to help as I am sure others are too. You got this brother
edit: I started replying before I read the entire OP. If you do the rehab, still read the first half of what I wrote... as it applies.
Relapsing can give you a sense of shame, but you cannot discredit yourself for all the clean time. You can bounce back, have that mindset... reframe it in a positive way. You can use the guilt/shame to motivate you to not fukc up, but don’t allow those feelings consume you

Be easy on your self. 3 1/2 years is quite a monumental achievement in regards to being sober. We're only human.
I'm on day 3 rn of being sober from smoking weed. Been smoking for over a decade. Insomnia withdrawals

In the end, relapse seems to happen to every body. Sobriety seems to be futile.
The way I see it, it’s better than being dead. Any day above ground is a good day, relapsed or not. Whatever it takes to stop yourself from entering the great unknown of death.
I always have enjoyed your posts. Hang in there.

It happens man, don't sweat it so had. Guilt and shame will only make your plight worse. Withdrawals are reasonably unlikely after a few days drinking so don't let your inner alcoholic bull**** you into staying drunk.
Good luck, Godbless.

Good luck breh. Alcohol is subtle as **** sometimes how you’ll ease back into full blown alcy mode. Dreading this weekend since past couple weekends I’ve been drinking after like a year sober, and that always leads to every day drinking. Can be strong as **** all week but soon as that weekend evening hits it’s all I can think about and the urge doesn’t go away.

A relapse isn't a full stop, it's a comma. I hope you'll post ITT in a month and update us. I'm sure it's tough right now but you're taking all the right actions to get right. You've got this and misc is rooting hard for you. Hang in there, Luke.

Sober crew here.
Nobody's perfect, bro - don't beat yourself up too much.
You know what it's like to feel sober for so long, withdrawals are a bitch and they want to convince you to drink more. Just remember they're only temporary and they will go away! Some discomfort along the way, but that's nothing compared to the reward of getting through them.
Come back in a month and make your BB.com family proud!

All the best dude. I recently decided I'm done with booze for the rest of my life. Almost 30 and it has done me nothing but harm in the past. Going to leave all that debauchery in my 20's and move on to greener pastures.

3 and a half years man, NICE!
if you're 99.99% sober the last 3 years, don't focus on the 1 day or 1 week mishap.
Check out some AA meetings, and start now on refocusing and regrowing. It will be easier now than if wait a few months. Make sure to be humble and practice GRATITUTE. Everyone is just trying to make it and be the best they can be, we are all human and aren't born perfect. We can do well and succeed, but we can never be perfect.
