No and never would be.

Very rarely would I ever hangout with a coworker outside of work unless it was something were multiple coworkers were also going.


When I was younger I "didn't see the problem" but as I've gotten older I've seen how it shifts perception of you. Especially if you're management or upper level.

As a rule I generally don’t socialize with my coworkers.

After one of my coworkers got fired for saying chit at a bar i now keep all personal opinions to my family and friends.

Don’t even use my personal phone for emails.

Nah, i used to but not anymore. I see them more than i do my family and friends during the week, so why would I want to spend even more time with with them?

I’m very selective with whom I’m friends with. I have three people I worked with that are friends in real life. I worked there for 12 years. We were very tight lipped when it came to discussing anything personal when it came to everyone at work. Most people who worked there talked a lot of chit and gossiped. We even had an incident where someone said something on their personal ********, and we got asked about it because management knew most people were friends online.
Be careful with who you let into your personal space. Anything you say can and will be used against you.

I have one really close friend who I met through work although he left a few months ago, used to go out together all the time before covid/lockdown. Still keep in touch here and there.

I have about 3-4 other guys I'd consider friends some who I still work with, we went on nights out and other events before covid too and are planning a few more activities once lockdown ends.

The rest are just acquaintances at best who I get on fine with but don't really see outside work.

I have one guy I'm friends with and we chat **** about work, and sometimes play golf together

A few others who I used to occasionally go out drinking with, but haven't in a while due to covid

Have worked with people I was already friends with. Best mate is someone I met as a former Coworker, were always close/hanging out whist working together

Friendly with all coworkers, tho not in the hang out/do stuff outside work sense. Have become with many after I or they leave tho.Well yes thats a different kettle of fish. Once your high on the ladder you dont need to bother with the pleebs.

But those on your team/level... You gain more by being friends/sociable than otherwise. You never know when theyre going to overtake you, or leave to a higher role and then offer you a sweet possie as well etc

But if your friendly with people no one cares if you take an extra smoke or turn up 2 minutes late blah blah. If youre someone whos unpopular then everyones up your arse at the first opportunity
