They're a little funky - kinda shaky. Weird shaped. The powerblock dumbbells are the best man (had both, kept powerblock)

assuming you are talking about the SelectTechs
https://www.bowflex.ca/en-ca/selectt...cttech-compare
They're pretty good, grip isn't too bad. Obviously you can't be launching or dropping these dumbbells as they'll break over time. Easy to use, just turn the dial on both sides to the weight you want and pick up. You avoid having to switch out the plates everytime you do a different exercise as opposed to a regular dumbbell which I didn't think was a big deal but is kinda good TBH.
They are kinda big and bulky, even at lighter weights so it's kinda hard to do stuff like tricep overhead extensions if you are lifting it from behind your head, but other than that you'll be able to do most exercises.
Do be careful that the number of the weight you selected is right on the notch. If you shift it enough where it is between the numbers, the actual weight plate will fall out. Had a 10 lb plate fall on my face while doing dumbbell floor pressing lol ... which is probably worst case scenario. But they should be secure as long as you're not a dumbass like me and make sure the twisting knob doesn't shift between sets.
Overall I am happy with them, I've had them for a few months now. don't really like powerblocks that much honestly, just feel fuking weird and the weight distribution.
If anything I would probably go with Ironmasters, they feel the closest to an actual traditional dumbbell. Tho you would have to switch out weights.

I know several people that have the Bowflex and all of them have developed elbow issues over time due to the weird offset in weight....The powerblocks dont seem to have this issue.
I bought the powerblocks because of the elbow issues and have enjoyed them. The only complaint I have with the Powerblocks is that two handed exercises on a single dumbell kind of suck (Tricep extensions).

The elbow issues on the bowflex ones are killer. Also had a plate fall out on my foot twice.
Never had an issue with PowerBlocks. 11/10 use them daily in my home gun during lockdown

I have the 1090s and like them. The only drawback is the support clips are plastic and can get scraped and become loose or need to be replaced. I think the newest versions have metal clips in those areas so that's a non-issue.
I can't stand the look of the Power Block handles personally. I can't see how Bowflex are considered bulky but Power Blocks are not. They seem even worse to me. I have nothing over 90lbs for DBs right now, but I intend on getting pro styles, either a top-tier set of handles or pre-builts. No way am I interested in expanding the already-wide PowerBlocks to be wider w/their extension kits. F that.

I have the bow flex ones.. regret not getting the other competing brand.
They are clunky, too wide.

Definitely considered both but ended up with the powerblocks mainly because I knew i would end up needing more than 50 lbs and also reading about their clunkyness.
That being said, love the powerblocks and do not regret. Minor criticism that could be given would have to do with the slight offset in balance that they can have when the steel tube weights are in the handles. It puts the center if gravity a little more away from the handle. Feels a little different on curls and when balancing overhead for presses and such. Personally, I could also use more texture/knurling on the handles themselves but still, no regerts.
