Anyone else think ancient laws are alpha? Code of Hammurabi

i just find it fukin fascinating how people have essentially organised themselves basically forever, i wonder how much great wisdom has actually been lost to us and often think that what we have inherited from the past must just be a small proportion of what there has been, also i kind of respect the fuk out of the "absolutes" in old laws e.g. literal eye for an eye,

If a man accuses another man and charges him with murder, but cannot bring proof against him, his accuser shall be killed.

If a man breaks into a house, they shall kill and hang him in front of that very breach.

If a man has a debt lodged against him, and [the storm god] Adad floods his field or a flood bears [his crops] away, or for want of water grain is not grown in the field: in that year he will not repay grain to his creditor. He shall suspend performance of his contract [literally "wet his clay tablet"] and he will not give interest payments for that year.

If a merchant gives silver to a trader for a venture, and he incurs a loss where he goes, he shall return the principal to the merchant in silver.

If a man takes a young child for adoption at birth [literally "in its water"] and raises it, that child that was raised may not be reclaimed.

If a man blinds the eye of another man, they shall blind his eye.

If a builder builds a house for a man but does not complete his work thoroughly, so that a wall collapses, that builder shall strengthen that wall from his own silver.

If a slave says to his master, "You are not my master!": he [the master] shall bring proof against him that he is his slave, and his master shall cut off his ear.
