A lot of people talk about how prayer helps them feel better. I wonder if it is more related to the same kind of feeling people get when practicing "gratefulness" in CBT. Basically, you keep a mental log of things you are thankful for or grateful that you have. In reflecting on this, it can make you feel better. I wonder if prayer basically does the same thing since when most people pray, they first thank their deity for what they have.

Do any of u *******s do this? It has helped me keep things in perspective. There are a lot of luxuries I have simply for being American that a lot of other people don't. Sometimes, even just having the ability to walk or see can be a huge thing to be grateful for. There are a lot of people who don't have either and still find things to take joy in their lives. There are a lot of incels, manlets, DYEL, baldcels, twinks, bloatlards, povertycels, wagies, tradies, trumpers, moon hoaxers, 50 year old dudes pretending to be sloots, etc on this board, and we all focus on what we don't have rather than what we do. It isn't good for you.

I feel closer to God when I pray.

I feel that way when I nut.
