Dave Ramsey being sued for firing employees that had pre-marital sex

https://www.wsmv.com/news/lawsuit-al...3053b5df2.html

Today Chris Hogan was also terminated due to an extra-marital affair in 2019. I think Dave has done tremendous good to help people who are financially brain dead. Dave changed the name of his radio show from the "Dave Ramsey show" to "The Ramsey show" starting this year and I think he is about to turn it over to the other "Ramsey personalities". I listen to the show on youtube faithfully at work but whenever Dave isn't on I don't bother. The value of the show lies in Dave's vast experience. The majority of the time he only parrots his "baby step" principles but there I have still learned alot from him outside of that.

My bet is he either retires this year or somehow tries to replace Rush Limbaugh as the new voice for conservative boomers.

Hate that guy and he preaches finance for sub 80 IQ plebs, but respect the hustle. He did it his way, fleeced his way into half a billy.

Yea, I dont really think that whole brand has any value without him being there. Just from reading comments from his fans it seems alot of them are pretty neurotic and take everything he says as the gospel.

The principal of being debt free is 100% correct. His advice for a 1k emergency fund is retarded.

His advice is for the financial equivalent of alcoholics

Yeah I like Dave Ramsey. His show is entertaining and he gives good advice for getting out of debt (not for investing though). But he might be a little off his rocker. He also covered up Chris Hogan’s affair, despite claiming he’d fire anyone who cheated on their spouse, because he didn’t want to ruin sales of their new book Everyday Millionaires.

That is kind of suspect to me as well. Hogan was the only other person in their network who had half a chance to keep it afloat if Dave left.

Its just until you get out of debt though, then he says to save the standard 3-6 month expenses. Not trying to be rude, I don't know if you knew that or not

I've taught in public schools for years. They need to adopt a 1 semester curriculum in High School to give students a crash course. If their parents are poor or terrible w/ money, it could be a game changer.

As for the lawsuit... lol. I wonder if there's any fine print with they start working for him about his standards. Would be awesome if it's justified
Just trying hard to not be a fat sack-o-chit.

Some one sent me Hogan's announcement video. He didn’t explain why he got fired, but I figured this was why. Not sure how I feel about this tbh

Agree 100%. I think Dave has a pre bundled basic financial literacy course for sale to any school districts that want to buy it.

Was actually unaware Chris got fired until today even tho it came out awhile ago.

What’s weird is he fuked his wife’s family member (not sure the relation) but it happened like 3 years ago. Dave knew the entire time. Chris Hogan’s wife even told him and the company paid for their marriage counseling.

Some weird chit going on behind the scenes there.

In a motion last month to try and dismiss part of O’Connor’s lawsuit, attorneys for Dave Ramsey responded by writing he is, “a purveyor of biblically-based educational resources, prohibits employees from engaging in premarital sex. Plaintiff’s employment was terminated for violating this rule.”
I doubt he's actually read the bible or he wouldn't even allow women to talk on his show.

Hogan sucked.

As for the broad, she agreed to it was part of her employment. So did Hogan.

Yeah the Daughter born with a silver spoon can't keep it up no matter how hard Dave wants that to happen.

When I was first married I lived near Nashville way before he was syndicated, I used to listen and enjoy it. He was hiring when it was just like him and his producer (Blake somethingorother), I wanted to go interview with him but I didn't have the balls to pull the trigger and quit a temp job leading up to a job with good bennies.

Can't imagine how wealthy I would be if I had gotten in on the ground floor all those years ago.

Ramsey is great, no way he goes Limbaugh route. He’s conservative, but thinks relying on Washington is dumb - and believe it or not he’s pretty serious about his beliefs and won’t sell them out too hard to make a buck.

His personalities all suck tho. Can def tell Ramsey runs a tight ship. Also it’s annoying to talk to his 80 IQ disciples.

- “you’re using leverage to buy real estate?? What??”
- “you didn’t pay all cash on a no interest car payment???”
- “don’t take the 401k match til you’re debt freeee”

I'm a long time disciple. Never had a car loan or credit card and paid off my 15 year mortgage early. Currently paying cash for kids college, then aggressively saving for a retirement lake home, this is all while funding Roth IRA's and I have a pension. I'll probably have to take a mortgage out for a lake home but with no other loan payments I'll just have to sit on my dock with a fishing pole in debt for a few years I guess.

Smart move. When you have a foundation of morals and values from Christian teaching for your financial business, axing a guy who is a faux Christian like Chris Hogan is smart. Seems dishonest to keep on a host who preaches things like morals and values and marriage issues while cheating on his wife multiple times.

I like Dave. He's a boomer's boomer for conservatives and his ideas and easy to understand debt free principles are legit. He's not afraid to tell it like it is for people too. I like listening to him.

Will never take his mutual fund financial advice though and he's a little too tight knit with things. Seems like he disregards most avenues of investment unless you have like 500k cash lol.

Yea even if he’s wrong on the “math” part he nails the behavior part down. And for every “you’re better off investing than paying off your mortgagecel” out there 90% of them don’t do that and just spend it on ****. And for all the “you take a car loan with zero interest, it’s free moneycel” out there 90% of them can’t afford the principal payment anyways so who cares about the interest.

That said good luck buying rental properties in cash in your lifetime lol

I actually looked real hard at that quite a few years back. All lenders wanted a note against my home for a first property which I couldn't stomach. Talked to current landlords and some of the stories they had were a little much. Add to that, in my state evictions have been illegal for 9 months due to Covid, so a lot of tenants just stopped paying even though they have the means to pay.

Gonna be a lot of rentals on the market since this will break a lot of landlords that still need to pay taxes, insurance, mortgage, utilities etc., but who wants to buy a property full of deadbeats that can't be evicted?

His company is based on Christian values and they are a large portion of his customer base. He should be well within his rights as an employer to terminate employees for that sort of thing. If he kept them around and it got out it could literally damage a large portion of his business.

I like Dave's advise. I know a lot of people on the internet criticizes certain aspects of it. And Dave is perfectly aware of it. He pretty much just laughs because everyone criticizing him is broke as fukk. He's literally addressed it in several of his youtube videos. From what I've can tell like 99% of people that disagree with him and his financial advise don't even have a tenth of his net worth.

Literally everyone. For the financially illiterate, that's the ONLY way they know how to generate cashflow. It's the only business model simple enough for even miscers to understand. It's always going to be flooded with tradies and wagecels and other unwashes masses.

This. The 1,000 Emergency fund is just for small stuff and to get the ball rolling, considering 30-50% of americans depending on what article you read can't even come up with 500 when things kinda go bad. The 3-6 month chit is something damn near everyone should shoot for.

But what the fuq@ this chit i liked Chris Hogan... How you firing people because of chit they do in their personal lives unless that was in their contract?...
