where should i live next misc?

whats up boyos



Current situation:

Live in Connecticut
Current lease is up in September
1br 800sqft for $2,300/month
have a 3 yr old bernese mtn dog so can't be scorching hot all year round



I want to GTFO out of CT / NYC area for at least a year or two (ded fkn Srs)



i plan on Airbnbing for a week or two at a time in several places this Spring / Summer to "test out" diff areas and see if it might be a fit



-I also have a Bernese Mtn Dog, and so unfortunately places that are HOT AF all year round are off the table (probably no Florida, AZ, CA, etc.)



Places on my short list currently:

-Durham, NC (lower COL than where I'm at, cool up-and-coming city, decent tech scene if I end up getting fired from current job)

-Charleston, SC (never been but heard its pretty sweet)

-Austin, TX (i know it is filled with soypilled neckbeards but politics aside it looks pretty fun, potentially) (might be too hot for doggo)

-somewhere in Colorado (probably not downtown Denver as I've heard it's gotten pretty fukked up, but maybe a suburb? Colorado Springs? Boulder? idk)



any other suggestions based on your experiences, boyos?

At least March/April. Sometimes we’ll even get a storm in late may/early June.

It’s supposed to snow all the way through tomorrow morning.

Littleton is Arapahoe County and Aurora is mostly Denver County. Douglas County is a little further south. Right in between Denver and Co Springs.

Would recommend Colorado, always love it anytime I go.

Austin might be a little to hot for the pupper.

You might also really enjoy Durham/Raleigh area. It’s been growing and still staying chill and cool for the past 10 years and hasn’t gotten to insane Austin levels. Access to beach and mountains and a full four seasons. Caution though summer is humid a fuark. Also lots of college sloots.

Charleston is nice but I could see living there getting a little boring. I do like Greenville, SC but might not be city enough for you.

I’m in Raleigh. I’ve lived in Chapel Hill and Charlotte. I’m from Connecticut.

Durhams legit, you can live in the triangle for a bunch less than you’re paying now and I think you’d enjoy it. A ton to do. Also, weather is better than Northern winters.

I live in NoCO. Is GOAT for live music and outdoor chit. Not so much if you arent a flaming lib UNLESS you end up being somewhere East of the front range, in greeley or somewhere out there that wreaks of cow dung day and night (hashtag tradeoffs)

You mentioned Boulder ....... That will be even more expensive than Fort Collins, Loveland, Wellington, etc. Probably 30% more. If you are social, though, there is a chit ton to do there. Just know its liberal as fuk so if you are too, should be a match made in heaven.

If I didnt live here I would be in -

Windsor, CO (down the road)
Tampa
Charlotte
SLC
Just East of Seattle
SW Oregon
Spokane or Couer Dalene SRS, CDA looks fkn goat SRS

Colorado is alright. Prices are getting stupid here. Rent is out of control, or was, not sure if the plandemic changed that any. I would legit do what you are going to do, spend a week or two in each place.

I live in southern Colorado (Fremont County, about an hour away from Springs). Your really can't beat the weather (it's more temperate like AZ), and the cost of living is much better than the northern part. It's much more conservative than Denver, but we shall see how that changes.

Out of those choices, probably Charleston. It’s a fun city, great food and drink. Old town charm but also very touristy.

Durham is a chithole, sorry to piss off NC folks but I lived outside of Raleigh for 4yrs and Durham is chit. High crime, woke college fgts everywhere. Head to a city outside of Raleigh like Apex, Clayton etc.

Austin is the San Francisco of Texas. Hell to the fuk no.
