Is the Amityville Horror a true story?

Are the events in the book real?

Apparently there's 35 hours of tape given to the author from the family who lived there

They've talked to the most recent owners and they said there ain't sh!t there.

Also, the Warrens seem to be scam artists.

As mentioned above, DeFeo's murder of his whole family is 100% true. Everything that happened afterwards i.e. the haunting of the Lutz family which "inspired" the book and movie is total nonsense. The house has been continuously inhabited ever since the Lutz family left and no one has ever reported any paranormal activity of any kind. Most likely the family made it all up to score the book deal, assisted by their lawyer.

Ghost are definitely real.

I'm willing to bet that you would be able to see the outlines of the bodies from time to time.

Seent it myself as a child. Funny thing is, the house was a housing project house connected to other houses. Not a very old house at all.

You don't listen very well.

They are real. I've seent it myself as a kid(around 10).

They exist in the form of a simple outline of a body. No movement. Very much like a snapshot in time.

Kids eat too much sugar occasionally and their tiny little brains mess with them.

Imagine if all there was to look forward to after you die was scarring future miscers for life and talking to ******* tv psychics?

Would rather pick eternal nothingness.

Obviously, the afterlife is unexplainable.

But as for kids eating too much sugar, you have no proof that it messes with their head. Plenty of kids eat a lot of sugar and they don't see ghost.

And, it was confirmed that my sister, who was a teen at the time, saw the same thing. She brought it up before I did.

I know what I saw as I child. I'm not trying to scare you. These shadows of the afterlife were completely harmless and had no life. I would say 99% of the things you read about ghost are bullchit.

And my mother has a similar story, and I saw a thing I thought was a ghost as a kid. Doesn't make it real, people's eyes play tricks on them.

It's true that the eyes can form shapes that isn't there in real life. But statistically speaking - the eyes sees what is there and it fills in what isn't there about 98% of the time.

Given the layout of my house at the time, there was no reason why my eyes would artificially fill in the the shape of a human outline clearly sitting on a couch, or standing right smack in the middle of a archway...

I have seen, while driving on the highway, a police officer on a corner using a radar system - which consisted of a bush - meaning that he did not existed, except in the figment of my imagination for a split second.

Btw, I know about this through my research work in automotive when I was researching the lighting discipline(headlights, optics, LEDs).

I made a thread about seeing a ghost the other year. In reality I was just half asleep and my brain turned a combination of a dream and the light coming off the soundbar under my TV into some spooky 3/10 bish intent on staring at me.

Pushed through the sleep paralysis to go hook her right in the fkin gabber before I realised what was going on. Wife called me a silly kunt.

I believe it to a degree. Obviously sensationalized for the book/movie but you have to remember - the Lutz got that house for a steal after the murders as it sat empty for a long ass time. Everything they ever wanted...and they up and leave within a month?? For a book? Nahh...they rarely talked about it the events there. I would be more skeptical if they reached out to every news outlet trying to blab their story. They didn't. Anyway....it's still real to me gotdamnit (crying.gif)

I swear I never watched any of those subsequent films following the OG. I tried one but it was fkn cheesy as hell and stopped about 30 minutes in. The remake one I watched but couldn't really get into it either. Between that and the Exorcist...two of my favorite scary movies.

Amityville II: The Possession was (mostly) about the DeFeo murders. Pretty disturbing film and Pauly (Burt Young) is in it.

Exorcist has a beast of a theme tune too. Mike Oldfield is the GOAT.

The book was complete bullchit. There was even one point in it where a priest was "attacked by a demon" or something after while driving down the highway and the hood of his car flew open, obscuring his view and causing him to almost crash. Except that the model car he was driving in the book has a hood that opens forward, not backward, meaning it couldn't fly open while driving.
And relief washes over me in an awesome wave
