How to keep cool with confrontation that could turn violent? (srs)

Manlet gymcel went Napoleon on me for using CG pulley row machine when his phone was next to the it while he was using another machine an aisle over.

He snuck up behind me and murmured "I was still using that" while I was in the middle of a set. I replied 'Funny, you'd be sitting here if you were'.

Bish immediately started ramping up into incoherent rambling of "****ing douchebag I was supersetting".

I wasn't too bothered by it at first but something came over me (this is stupid I know) where I said 'Why don't you tell me more about it in the parking lot' and then he backed down and waddled away.

I hate to admit this, but I was actually pretty worked up by that point and could feel this rush in my veins (no homo) preparing me for a fight like I was back in high school.

Got me thinking, how TF do fighters train for violent confrontations? If that had been one of the Mexican gangbangers (wannabe cartel around here in Colorado srs) or black panther types I'm not sure what my reaction would have been.

well, most trained fighters try to deescalate the situation vs escalating it. If you speak to someone and apologize with no intention of fighting, you are less nervous.

Not sure I could control myself in that situation but it's best not to fight over and lose your membership or get arrested. That being said there's multiple weights and machines to give someone the same exact movement those supersetting pieces of chit can use instead. If someone's horsing around and it's busy just do what you need to do weather they like it or not. If the gym is relatively empty pick something else.

A real outlaw and fighter or both would never had approached you like this in the first place because they know how fast things can escalate and if you’re a real man you know someone can get hurt really badly

Anyways for something as trivial as a cable machine he could have simply asked you if you two could work in with each other ( since adjusting these weights literally takes 2 seconds...) he could have been doing his set just 30 seconds later...

Best thing thing to do is as I’ve said above is to talk to him as if he’s a child and explain to him that both of you could just share the machine and he shouldn’t expect everyone to know that a machine is taken just because there’s a phone nearby , it’s easy to overlook it .

If this fails then , it’s alley parking lot time
