I get that ugly women in 1955 would like to work since no guy wants to wife her up. But if you’re even somewhat attractive as a girl, you could be set up with a decent life back then. It never made sense to me why some people think motherhood and a career are mutually exclusive. You can have a great career and still have kids, maybe not 5-10, but 1-2 is very doable. I know plenty of couples who both have a full time job and managed to have kids, I think it just requires a good support system (family/grandparents) or the resources to afford day care.

I make $150K and I'm not obsessed about my career. If I never become a team manager I'm fine. I manage vendors, but not actual people I'd have to write reviews on.

I took time off when I was 33 to have a child. She could have done that. There are plenty of maternity leave policies. I wasn't able to take advantage of one and just sucked it up financially.

The one kid she had from donor egg and donor sperm will likely get older, realizing they were a test tube baby, never feeling any sort of attachment to their mother (no sense of identity) and will likely not visit her in the old folks home.
