What's really scary is that back around 2013 - 2014 I recall gas prices being $4.50 here in L.A.... $4.50 was a lot in 2014. It could potentially creep up to $6.00 now in 2021.

True that OP. Getting ridiculous.

Wasn't there a gas tax bill that cali voters failed at trying to repeal?

Those who voted for the tax don't get to complain.

California voters are some of the most low IQ naive morons in the country. The reason why these gas tax hike bills succeed is because they include verbiage stating that the hike is to fund "green initiatives"... What they don't realize is that these "green companies" are profiteering off of the contracts they're granted by the state gov, they might spend 1% of the entire contract on "green research" while the execs pocket the remaining 99%.... and of course politicians get a kick back for authoring these green bills.

The best example of this is the supposed high-speed railway linking Northern Cali to Southern Cali, ten years and billions of $$$ later NOTHING ever came to fruition. CA voters get duped every election year and never learn a dammm thing....

Yea was $2.83 by me last night. On the way home from work I noticed it was $3.08

You can always tell this will happen because they suddenly have all these "random" attacks on tankers, oil fields, etc.

My governor since coming into office in 2019 has doubled the gas tax and it has an inflation rate set in to keep raising as general inflation rises.

Can't wait for $5 gas in IL!

I am in NorCal. On 1/16/21 I paid $3.35/gallon (diesel). The station closest to my work where I routinely fill up is currently at $3.90/gallon. That's about a 17% increase in just over 2 months.

A gallon, right? In most Europeans Countries a liter is >1.30€ so that's that. To make it better in some of those the average monthly wage is ~1000€.

So that's pretty much twice the price while receiving 5x less.

Just wait till the “milage driven tax” comes into play. NY is fiddling with that right now and i believe it will pass. Leading the way in fukking ppl over, NY will catch up to Cali soon.

it's funny how hyper-sensitive people are to gas prices and then they waste mega money elsewhere

penny wise, pound foolish

what's worse are people who get less than a full tank

like, what the fukk? how much time do you wanna spend at gas stations?

filled up earlier and i have no idea what the price was since the expense is inescapable and driving a distance for one marginally cheaper is gonna burn the difference easy

lolz

our gas is probably quite a bit less than you self-servecels and we have brehs do it for us hehe

Totally. Not even a year ago the price of oil futures literally went negative and oil tankers were sitting idle filled to the brim acting as storage.

Pretty crazy we went from that to almost $5 gallon gas. Doesn't help that California has the highest taxed gas of any state.

Biden is frantic to help Americans hard-hit by COVID-19, or so he says. But while his $1.9 trillion "American Rescue Plan" would send cash to millions, much of that windfall may go to pay for higher gasoline and home heating prices.

Americans should blame Biden, but not for the reason you might think. Biden's attack on U.S. energy producers, starting with his freeze on federal oil and gas leases, will assuredly take a toll on output down the road and cause prices at the pump to rise.

But today, Biden has pushed those prices, which were already rising because of severe weather, even higher by gratuitously alienating Saudi Arabia. The Gulf kingdom just surprised energy markets by announcing it would not raise oil output, despite developing supply constraints and rising prices. Oil prices jumped on the news, popping 4 percent to pre-pandemic levels for the first time in a year; the surge rattled markets already nervous about rising inflation.

The Saudis are reminding Biden that they can be a valuable ally or a formidable foe.

Add to the fact that gas in California is also more expensive due to higher environmental refining standards.

It was initially brought into play via Newsome, not via vote. CA voters, dumb as we are, voted to keep the damn tax a couple years back. It also raises the vehicle registration fee considerably.
