Question for all mma fighters in the misc, why does everyone punch with their fists instead of their palms?

I could literally punch a concrete wall full force with my palm and nothing will happen. The same can’t be said for your knuckles.

Also doesn’t the palm have more surface area?

Go watch old pancrase fights, specifically bas rutten. Fists were illegal but palm strikes weren’t.
