How would you go about helping someone getting assaulted?

How would you go about helping someone getting assaulted?
We've all been seeing many vids of future astronauts attacking innocent civilians in the past year.
How would you go about helping if you see these young aspiring entrepreneurs attacking a poor old grandma on the street?
I have a feeling most people would say they'd go for a rear naked choke, but I'm not sure if that's the best option.
Someone who's dumb enough to start chit on the street likely carries some sort of weapon, and the moment you start choking him out, he'll either pull a knife or gun on you.
The only safe option that I can think of (apart from pulling a gun if you have one) is grabbing ahold of the dude's head and slamming it onto the concrete so he immediately goes unconscious.
You can also try to knock him out with a sucker punch while he's busy beating up grandma, but you'll want to make sure your punch is accurate, or you might be fuked.
Your thoughts?

Get them off the said person, if the attacker does anything even more stupid like try to pull a knife or a gun i would shoot them with my Glock 26.

Never intervene. You have more to lose by intervening than by simply not involving yourself. If you save the day, you get some media attention and clout. If you don't save the day, you get seriously injured or even die and open yourself up to liability and lawsuits.
If the threat is gone, then sure you can intervene and help the victim(s). But even that has consequences, as that dude who was sued for pulling a woman out of a burning car found out. She sued him for her injuries and won.

You better be 100% ded-fukn-no homo sure of what's happening in the situation, you might end up assaulting the victim if you aren't careful. Also the aggressor might have a knife as a back-up plan and pull it if you jump in and now you are in a hand-to-hand knife fight. Or they might have a gun and start shooting so they don't lose the advantage. Also consider the witnesses; are they going to back you up? You have to be REALLY GOOD at reading the situation.

Have to gauge the situation - ask yourself if it’s worth your life. Because a lot of people that intervene have died trying to jump in.
if it’s 1 person attacking another and you feel confident you can get the upper hand then go for it. Probably the one street fight situation where picking them up and slamming them on the concrete is the move if you can..
If it’s multiple people you’re almost certainly ****ed if you jump in.
Smartest thing to do is get away and call the police - medical help will be on the way faster, and higher chance the assaulter gets caught. Taking notes of shoes, clothes, height, appearance, etc in case they run. Clothes generally get stripped/covered but shoes rarely get changed.

the other day I saw a old homeless lady walk up to another old lady on her walker and slaps her right in the face.
