In London, one of the most expensive cities worldwide, £100k (that's like $135k) is enough to income mogg 90% of people. Is inflation just crazy over there or something?

You need to get your spending habits in line then OP, or you live in an area with insanely high cost of living

My woman and I survived on <$60k combined for a long time, and that’s in Canadian dollars. We rented places, lived with other people for a bit, and we budgeted. The main downfall there will be saving and planning for retirement, but you should be able to survive no problem

Most live in high COL cities

100k in some places is like making 70-80k

Very few make 100k in an area where they actually net more than someone making 80k in a lower COL city

Me and my wife combined don't even make 100k, and we have a kid.

Legit don't feel like I want for anything.

2 story 4 bedroom house. 2 newer cars and a motorcycle.

We go on vacations, eat steak regularly, go out to eat once or twice a week. We have almost no debt including what I still owe on my car.

I got a $5k custom built computer with 3 monitors.
2 60 inch flat tvs less than 4 yrs old.
1200$ cell phones.

We still save money too.

I don't know how the **** people can make 100k a year and barely get by unless they live in one of those crazy areas where a 1 bedroom chithole costs like 2500$

My theory is most are just chit with money, stuck in that stupid keeping up with the Jones's lifestyle Spending waaaaaay to much money on chit for the sake of status, like jewlery(read: Watches), new phone every edition, expensive clothing and shoes that get worn like 3 times a year. $60k + car used to drive to work or the gym.

So yeah, if 100k isn't enough to survive you're either terrible with money, a vain status junkie, or live in a cucked area where housing costs are fuking you over.

I live in the most poverty state in the US and was appalled by how low salaries are in the UK. 100k isn't hard to make in high cost of living areas in the US. Also miscers lie like a mother fukr about how much they make. I know for a fact there are some legit ballers here but most are just lying

Doubt it. 9% of people in the US make over $100k/yr. The other 91% of people rarely talk about their salaries.

On the flip side, no mention of IRA and retirement accounts. This is where typically people making $100k doing it right still feel "broke" at the end of it all. Of course OP was being dramatic with the "how can people live" type of talk. Of course you can survive, you just dont really "get ahead" or pave a path towards not working any time soon.

$100k = $75k after maxing out tax deferred accounts.
$75k = $56k after federal taxes
If you live in a state with income tax take out more.

Its livable yes.....you just arent balling out of control like a lot of people think when you start to making into the six figures.

Everyone who makes $100k ends up getting like $60k after taxes.

Everyone who makes minimum $15/ hr ends up getting free healthcare and not having to pay taxes and the end, it all balanced out so that we’re all poor
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

-I'd rather live life saying "I failed" than "I could have"

lol in my 20s I on average made 65k a year. Despite this:

Went abroad every year for vacation

Bought rental investment property

Lived downtown in good cities in walking distance to night life

Ate basically whatever. A lot of salmon and steak

Saved 15-20% of salary consistently in 401k

When single and smashing sloots probably went on 70-100 dates a year srs

Never once really stressed about something I can afford

Clearly you are an idiot with money.

You see all those houses out there that cost 800k and up? That is most areas these days it seems like. Well, people actually live in them and these people make well over 100k, trust me. It comes easier when you're older and you have been building your career. You probably don't see a lot of people in their 20's pulling in huge salaries.

Just make sure that you are in a line of work where you are growing and your resume is building steadily. Always be actively looking for work because your increases are most likely going to come from job transitioning. If you are not in this state of mind and have no growth potential where you are at then make a change asap.

It depends ton ton of things. In NJ if you make less then that it won't take you all that far. My property taxes alone are 13k a year. Just insane.
