Lol at a Portlandcels, literally getting invaded by the homeless

The whole 5 is riddled with tents, I even saw one 5 feet away from the FREEWAY. Jfl at paying high rent only to have a drug addict neighbor with a pitbull.

The tents and crackheads are in a 5 mile radius for the most part. You can get a nice house 15 minutes from the city with no homeless and would have no idea about this problem unless you drove through the city.

Just moved away, but with those camps also comes the incessant panhandling and that **** does spread well beyond the camps.

Portland miscer here. I only see a few homeless people here and there. I haven't seen shantytowns or groups of tents, tho. The biggest problem is that when there are homeless fukcs and drug addicts you're not really allowed to do anything about it -- not even the police can do much. Then of course the irony is that the city who feels sympathy for them and won't let the police strongarm them around, also refuses to do much about it.

edit: ^yeah I forgot about the pandhandlign bull**** I've encountered. Although a lot of the people I've seen doing that definitely don't look homeless; just lazy and degenerate trash.

I knew somebody who relocated to a very rural area. No welfare offices or anything. Apparently it became a homeless squatter area somehow even though the nearest welfare office was probably 5+ hours away by foot.

I have not witnessed that but I can certainly see it happening, especially if the climate is decent. I think the wealth of "resources" and population is what drives the large camps to the big cities though.

More importantly are the can/bottle return locations and that is no joke...

If you really want a show try going north a couple hours to Seattle, make Portland look like jv homeless camp. They wander the streets like the walking dead there, and there is a massive jungle of them right off the 5 freeway and nonstop lines of tents all the way leading to and from the jungle in both directions, i think they have way more per capita than here in SoCal, srs, never seen anything like it in a so-called civilized place lolol

Just be sure to keep your air conditioner vents on recirculate or your whole car will smell like garbage and rotting fish, srs

The least bad stop-gap measure I can think of is designated "campgrounds" w/port a pots, lighting, and a lot of very visible security cameras. Put up some kind of fencing and plant some trees and bushes around.

If police find someone camping in the city and they aren't on private property with the permission of the property owner then they have to relocate to the nearest campground.
