Milk = taste better, but more calories (and proteins)
Water = taste less, but zero calories

My way is: Cook in water, then put some milk towards the end when it's finished cooking. Get almost same taste as cooking it in only milk, and less calories

I cook mine with water. I honestly couldn't imagine cooking them with milk otherwise it would be way too fking thick and almost inedible. For clarification I go like 4 cups of water + ~1.5 cups of dry oats, so it's pretty thick as it is. I guess if you go for skim milk that **** is practically water anyways, so you might want to go for that.

By optimising digestion do you mean get a worse insulin hit than pure sugar? Because cream of rice is just pulverised rice that you cook fast and it gets digested faster than a Gatorade. Oats are more slow digesting and fill you up better

Plain oats with water crew.

Would finish with a splash of cream if anything.

But I just genuinely like the taste of plain hot oats. Adding chit to it makes it not bland but then it’s like pathetic bland tasty food. I enjoy how plain it is by itself instead of trying to dress it up.
