Any mortgage brahs for a basic question (srs) (20k+ reps)?
Context: your company is going out of business within the next two months, or rather the company as a whole is staying in business but your regional office is shutting down in the next two months. It's public knowledge too because its a very large public company. Getting laid off soon is a certainty.
Will this be a problem if you tried to get approved for a mortgage now? From what I read online the lenders do a verification of employment and ask how likely it is that you will remain employed. Just wondering if its even worth bothering trying to get a mortgage rn

When a mortgage lender requests a written verification of employment from the borrower’s employer, one of the questions that are asked is whether the employee’s likelihood of employment will continue for the next three years

Getting a mortgage is kinda like buying drugs. Everyone has different stuff at different rates, and different expectations.
The question that comes to my mind is, would you get a mortgage knowing you're about to get laid off?
