It's hard to imagine that any 'secret society' would be all evil. If there was any old wisdom that had fallen out of favor with religion or the enlightenment, it couldn't be all bad, since both religion and pure science have produced good and bad things. If some organization was interested enough to keep it's ideas alive in the face of some growing power, why would evil be the thing that prevails? What is this, the legion of doom? lol

The illuminati sure gets a bad rap, but if they were real, I'd venture a guess that they understand something about the cost of the deal that's been done with widespread religion or more likely (imo) capitalism itself.
