When I hook the speakers up and I put the aux port into the laptop mic port the sound plays from the monitor. I want the sound to come out of the speakers. What to do ? will rep

Change your audio source, on the bottom taskbar hover over and left click over the volume icon, from there you can open a menu to change the data source

The laptop should be able to provide more power to the speakers than monitors (slightly better audio quality but hard to notice) but both should work. Really only matters if you’re trying to drive complex audio equipment. For basic desktop speakers both work.
