The thought of being immortal and bored is scarier than living a partial life that ended too quickly. “Winning” by not dying will eventually make everything meaningless. Can you spend 2000 years doing the things you love? 20000? 200000? Wasting time as an immortal has no meaning. You can stare at paint for 5000 years....

Death provides meaning to your existence by giving you the opportunity to have a reference point for what is a waste of your time and what is not. What activities bring you joy what people cause you pain... all of these things matter more because it ends.
