Zyzz was just a kid. Barely articulate. First of his kind though

I remember watching this back in 2011 and thinking it was the most motivational ****.

Now with it coming up to ten years since his passing, I watch this not as an insecure 17 year old but as a 27 year old man and all I see is a kid spouting whatever pop-motivation springs to his head, stuttering over his own words, etc.

Is this how older people felt about Zyzz at the time? If you bought into all the "Zyzz is a greek God" hype you might not want to watch this, your memories will be shattered.

Go in instagram and you see this sort of thing from teenagers/early 20-somethings everywhere. I guess Zyzz was the first of his kind, a trailblazer in the fitness influencer world.

Starting weight 130lbs
Current stats: 6"2, 210lbs.

The 8th and final rule: If this is your first night at Gym Club....... you have to squat.

Agreed. Looked up to him back in the day even though I was a cpl yrs older he was inspiring. Now, RIP to the goat and all but he was going too hard and it was bound to end dangerously. Like every lame his age, I’m his own mind he was invincible.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

Wasn't he 22 when he died?

I was never aware of him other than the viral pics.

These are the physique that got me heavy into calisthenics (do you guys remember the trend?). Was pretty down that I didn't look like this guy and thought I had terrible genetics. I didn't even know what steroids were.

That's a good thing that you can look back on stuff like that and cringe, not just at the video but at yourself. Means you've grown since then. Hopefully in ten years you'll look back and cringe at the 27 year old version of yourself. The real sad ones are the ones who never progressed past those stages/phases and just seem to remain forever stuck at a mental age that doesn't match their biological age.

Yeah, exactly this. And if I had to guess, I imagine zyzz would’ve been stuck at that 22 year old mentality still today. Just like chestbrah still running around doing the same sh!t.

Didn't really want to go there but yeah. With the trajectory he was on he'd probably be just as much and maybe even more of a laughing stock than his brother because he actually had a small taste of 'internet fame' more than chestbrah.

I don't think so, he might be cringey to older brahs but actually think of this generation now with Instagram etc and their mentality. Zyzz in 2021 would absolutely kill it and would be loaded.

Impossible to say for sure for obvious reasons but he was heavily into steroids and apparently other drugs as well. That rarely goes well and usually just progresses to self destruction sooner or later. Assuming he tried to clean up and quit the drugs he's screwed there too since his entire persona was a result of his steroid fueled 'transformation'.

Yeah of course impossible to tell all we can do is speculate. Provided he didn't kill himself with drugs, I personally think he would've made a lot of money. When you look at instagram and the kind of people and personalities are the most popular and make the most money from instagram, Zyzz fits right in.

I'm not so sure. Chestbrah is still just doing the same chit his brother laid out all these years later, I think Zyzz would have pivoted to match the current era. Just about anything trendy 10 years ago looks stupid now.

Damn it's been 10 years already. I find this strange because....considering this was 2011 (infancy of Youtube/social media) Zyzz never really had many videos of him talking other than a few webcam videos and the road trip video. If he was alive, I could see him being more famous than Jeff Seid or Simeon Panda.
