Help me skateboard brahs
Hey guys, I want to get back into skating.
I probably skated for about a year on and off, when I was a "younger" I'm still very young, pre twenties, But I don't know how to get started again. I was pretty dog**** considering how much time I had been skating for, I could cruise and all that but I could only ever commit to learning ollies while still and slightly rolling. I could ollie a respectably height stationery. but as soon as I start rolling, I got scared and could never commit to doing it properly.
The furthest I ever got was ollieing over the smallest part of a cone, after hours of practice, even then, I still couldn't commit the next days\ after clearing it ten times in a row. I was just scared to do anything and everything. Stupidly, I sold my brand new board after I had just brought it. I still have one old board that my dad bought for me (he used to skate aswell and was pretty good at it)
I was just scared to try anything and for some reason I always felt nervous when going out on my skateboard.
Im thinking of going out tomorrow early in the morning and start skating again. Any tips???

it took me like two years to be able to land kickflips with any consistency. skating is something that takes a LOT of practice. it's easier to practice more if u have friends that are also into it, cuz it makes it more fun. otherwise u gotta be really dedicated on your own. it's worth it though, man. i just got on a small half pipe a couple years ago, for the first time since i was like 18, and it was a frickin blast.

You're bringing back them feels from 20 years ago, brah. When I was skating, I was a fat, non-limber, clumsy as schit teenager. I never got past flatground ollies, barely every landed a kickflip, sprained my ankles multiple times trying to pop 4-5 stair sets. I had friends that were really skilled, one was sponsored by a local skate shop.
I found my old board a few years back and decided to give it a whirl in my garage. It was definitely easier to get around now that I'm much stronger and lighter. However, a buddy of mine came over (he's a cop, ironically), he tried a heel flip, landed it, and snapped my board in half. So now, I have a cracked board on my garage wall as a memento. I've been wanting to get a new one, honestly to use it as cardio or warmup before leg days (dead fkn srs). So, I'm in the same boat as you and am asking myself the same questions.
Apply the same principles to it that you would to bodybuilding I guess. I abide by something I called the P.E.C. principle - proficiency, efficiency, and consistency. I apply that to all of my endeavours in life.
Good luck, OP.

Lots of leg strength now too.How much would you say that you weighed? and what height were you?

I used to be chubby and still kinda am, however, I have leaned out and grew quite a bit since I last skated, I think that Im OK in that department. I think that I just need to get out there and practice.
