Counter Strike is the best game ever made!

I've been playing this game since the Beta versions, back in 1999! I know, shows my age! LOL

No other game matches this. I've played plenty in my day, from COD (extremely popular, especially COD 4 etc) to Battlefield to RTS/RPG games, other FPS games (Crysis, etc) ... 5v5 competitive is like none other. I've been there from the day dot ... trying to find a war (back in 1.3-1.6 days) via mIRC and all various IP addresses to CS:S which I loved to CSGO which I didn't adopt until 2014 ... I'm still to find a better 5v5 game or similar. 64/128 player servers are fun but there is something special about the 5v5 and the involvement in the game. Here are 3 screenshots of 1.6/CS:S and current CS:GO. My apologies for not having more screenshots of early 1.0 - 1-5 games, it's on my other IDE HDD (i know I know)

I will say 1 thing, I never (amongst everyone else) loved Steam when it was first released in Sept 2003. It was forcing users to install a program in order to play games. I joined in Nov 2003 because I had no other option to play 1.6 competitive. Steam has evolved to unprecedented levels.

LAN's were the best bro. Best LAN I've ever attended was back in 2005 in a 5 star hotel with 300 people. EPICCC! Good old CRT monitors hahaha

I played CS back in the day and i agree it's good, i played on gamespy before even the steam days, but i have to disagree that it's the best (in my personal opinion). It is definitely one of the best though.

Games from a similar era i personally found better (if we're talking STRICTLY FPS, because i guess it's pointless to compare say a strategy game to CS):
Team fortress classic
Halo
Quake III Arena
Unreal tournament
Half life: opposing force

If you want to include non FPS also, i'd throw age of empires 2: age of kings/conquerers expansion in there.

I guess i enjoy arcade style shooters more, as far as realistic shooters go not much could touch CS1.6 in it's day, but i think there's plenty of games since that can.

Counter strike has really stood the test of time. You have franchises like BF or COD that evolved and took steps in questionable directions, but CS has done none of that and still is popular. I think it’s just the simplicity but also the small little nuances that make the game, and yourself better than the rest.

2 years ago I went to a e-sport tournament finale for cs:go. It was cool to experience Srs

Good list, and good games, but counter strike reigns supreme.

2fort and well here bruh, i think i played well more than any other map, with 2fort probably a close second.

My memories of concussion grenade jumping in 2fort and well with the medic class or sniper, or going engineer on badlands and getting mad kills with the sentry guns, or going soldier on dustbowl are eternal.

God... i ****ing miss this so much. i still play csgo, but we started playing at like 10 years old back back in 2000. after school every single day we'd play aim_akcolt and scoutzknives. ended up playing with my boy from cal-i to cal-m over the course of all those years. then when source came out i hated it, continued playing 1.6 until csgo released.

GOAT fps.

BF1942 and BF2 were game changing. And you know what's even better about these 2? they still ran better than Warzone currently does.

well was awesome! I loved playing medic offense and sliding the ramp towards the flag room. or playing soldier on D at the ramp and racking up a lot of kills.
