It will be interesting to watch this play out. Hospitals have every right to terminate staff who do not get vaccinated, and they routinely do. As long as people are not claiming religious discrimination (which certain jurisdictions have started to disallow), a private employer is free to set their terms of employment, especially if it's a workplace and public health consideration. However, EUA is not full FDA approval and forcing people to take the vaccine before any longer-term effects have been studied seems a little morally questionable. I do understand the rationale here, and the very low chance that the vaccine will have any extended effects, but it seems to me that this creates a dangerous precedent and I oppose it on those grounds, even though I myself happen to be vaccinated.

I have a friend who works for a company where they send personal workers to elderly in their homes to give them support. She says that about half their staff haven't gotten vaccinated yet and there's nothing they can do about it even though those people are potentially putting people who could die from COVID at risk. Can't force people to take it for employment, can't disclose that they don't have it to the patient (I'm in Canada). They've had about half a dozen staff test positive over the past few months and it's always massive damage control when they do.
