I know two

One of them is a guy I used to drink with a bit, not a close friend but he was in my friend's circle.

One night he was on leave or something and was at a house party toking up a joint, drunk and stoned to oblivion, and he piled a bunch of folks in the car and went for a mcdonalds run, saying he knew all the patrol areas etc and it'd be fine. Then he seemed to have a moment of clarity and got someone else to drive who was equally drunk...

The second guy is this kid I went to school with who was this nerdy as weirdo, one time he had these rewritable CD's in his school bag and we put them in the school computer and he had weird AF porn on there like some real effed up stuff. He had a bunch of mental problems too, like all this pent up rage, he would get these insane tantrums, one time he punched a girl in the face.

These are our "best and brightest" who roam the streets with a badge and a gun.

Look yes George floyd was a P.o.s who I won't lose a wink of sleep over but all this furore and BLM shouldn't even exist, it was all caused by some dumb ass who shouldn't have been in a uniform.

Not true for big cities. but yeah small town cops are usually morons.

I’m sure it’s different from department to department and the supply/demand of positions.

Where I am in MD you have some departments that are easier to get hired than others. I know guys who couldn’t get into their desired county’s so they went to baltimore city then transferred out after a few years.

Since we are just making uneducated judgements itt, I’ll throw my hat i the ring and say the problem lies more with unions protecting unfit cops (same with teachers unions and schools).

Baltimore city is bottom of the barrel.

They have cops that couldn’t become security guards.

And they are still short staffed.

What kind of qualifications does OP belive a cop in say.......Detroit should have?

Idk about anyone but they absolutely are too lax with who can. Our local PD has a huge problem with the younger cops being on roids while they’re out locking people up for having a joint.


The best cops I’ve ran into are usually the old hands that toss your weed as long as your up front an honest about what you have. Ime the old hands are cool if your honest. They just hate being lied to from dealing with it all day.

I was a union worker for years. Most have sold out for that cush job and aren’t nearly as strong as they once were. They’re only good for protecting the chittiest of workers as you said from what I’ve witnessed first hand. I’ve got a cpl of mind boggling stories where the union would protect worker A. Who never shows up and doesn’t meet min requirements but let’s worker B. Who’s a hard worker and always there get thrown under the bus. ESPECIALLY if race is involved.

Idk, I knew this dude who was former military & they didn't let him become a cop because he failed some of their training, but then again after watching some of these vids it seems a lot cops have no idea how to handle a situation without shooting 5 rounds, especially the female cops.

but who was background check, polygraph, psychological interview, references, board selection committee, reading and writing comprehension test
