Great video.

My only beef (pun intended) with the beef industry is the deforestation of the Amazon happening in Brazil. But to the videos point, that could take place for “veggie” farms as well.

you need to deforest more for beef farms than just veggie farms. The cow is a middle man. They're delicious but they take their cut

You didn’t watch the video apparently.

What’s happening in Brazil is unique to their country.

The USA has a supper efficient beef industry.

Edit: some quick cliffs for you. 2/3 of ag land wouldn’t grow crops or support certain livestock. Cows are able to eat the grasses and other ag waste humans can’t eat.

You’re missing the point. It can’t be used for fruit or veg. So it would be wasted space. There wouldn’t be enough land to grow enough food if everyone was vegan.

Watch the video.

I'm finished. We're not short on food. Not here in north america. We could just leave that space.

I can see this applying to those over populated 3rd world peoples. They need to use all the land they can.

Or maybe you'r right since Im starting to see vegetables cost as much per lb as meat

I hate the idea of spending 24 minutes watching a video when someone could have wrote an article i could have scanned in 30-60 seconds. What a horrible medium for trying to educate people.

Anyway the idea that cows are eating grass is a joke, majority of cows are fed grains. Those grains are fit for human consumption or that land could be repurposed elsewhere. 97% or more of cows are grain fed in the USA in feedlots, they aren't grazing **** lol. In Canada it's not quite as high but still above 90%. Sure in some third world countries their cows graze.. but it has nothing to do with the agricultural land quality, it's 100% to do with the fact that land is cheap as **** in those countries and it's cheaper to just let them graze than it is to come up with technology and processes to grain feed their cows.

I already knew some of the stuff in the video. But yea. We waste something like 40% of fruit and veggie food. Beef waste is much much much less.

The problem is “emerging” countries not being efficient with their beef industries. In the video they point out that India gets the same amount of food from cows as the USA with about a tenth of the efficiency.

As with a lot of the worlds problems, USA does a damn good job with everything but the total number gets used. So it’s not really the USA needing to change it’s the rest of the world needing to catch up.

Watch the video. The “grain” you speak of is like 80% from ag waste that humans can’t eat.

It’s all the byproduct from other farming.

Corn husks, nut shells, etc.

Imagine thinking giant monocrop fields that are bathed in chemicals, and aggressively tilled
causing depletion of the soil are more environmentally friendly than cows eating grass in a field.
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."
