Anyone else hang out with their parents regularly? (srs)
When I was a teen I was almost NEVER home. Always running around town with friends, seeing how degenerate I could be without getting arrested. (Did get detained by cops twice though). I would spend entire weeks away at friends' places in the summer. Most of said friends were living in single-parent households. (<- This observation didn't mean much to me until recently)
Nowadays, I've noticed that since my mid-20s and presently into my early 30s that I would often rather hang out with my Mom and Dad who live an hour away then go out on the town with the boyos in the metro I live in. Hell, I'd even go as far as to say I'd rather see my folks than go on another pointless date with some ungrateful sloot just for the chance of getting lucky.
For example, Dad and I watched Cool Hand Luke the other night. He had seen it, I hadn't. Was an epic time just watching a classic movie and Mom bringing the snacks/beverages. Paul Newman was GOAT btw.
Pops and I differ greatly on politics (He's got TDS sadly), but we still can have heated debates and hug it out before I hit the road for home. Most recently we argued about Fetanyl Floyd.
Aside from politics, he and I are trying to learn guitar, we are not very good so we go from trying to practice and learn something to giving up and just showing each other our favorite live music performances on Youtube. He usually plays Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton while I like to show him MTV Unplugged Pearl Jam or Stone Temple Pilots.
All this makes me realize how lucky I am to have both my parents, who are still happily married since the 80s, and who love me even though I haven't fought in a war, or attained a college degree, or really done anything super significant outside some volunteer work.
Anyone else know these feelz?

Yes, been hanging out with them more and more the older I get. Unfortunately I've been offshore for months on an offshore salvage job. Slated to go home soon...really looking forward to hanging out with them.

That's pretty great. These days I live way across the country, but I wouldn't trade my family for anything. There is nothing that can replace it.

I don't hang with the regularly, but I see them frequently.
Just last week we went to a swap meet and then had lunch after.

Yes lmao. Sometimes my parents have to tell me to go home cus I'd just spend all day at least once a week hanging out at their house. I talk to them daily too, it makes them happy and I'm super grateful for them.

Yea and even go on vacations together. and it's kinda weird cause we're close but not to the point where were asking each other how our days went . like i didn't grow up with a "hugging family"

If they died tomorrow I wouldn't attend their funeral.

My mom lives in another state, but eventually when we all move near each other I would want to hang with her. I live within an hour of my sister and we don't really hang as much cause she's swamped with 3 kids and a career, but trying to change that

But what scares me is the thought of losing either of them. Dad has already beaten cancer and his slightly older brother is becoming unrecognizable by the week with dementia.
I share this to say again "don't take your loved ones for granted"
