does anyone else not give a chit about taking out a
life insurance policy on themselves?
i mean you go through life spending what little money you have on the bills to get by. do you really want to pay for something that is for after you are dead and gone?
i mean who gives a chit. you are dead. take me out and through me on top a mountain for all i care
ill never get one.

Unless you have substantial assets saved up you're condemning those you love to a worse life if you die or get disabled.

Doesn't life-insurance help get money to your beneficiaries (i.e. - children) after you die?
If you've got no children, then whatever; don't get life insurance. But if you have children, wouldn't you want life insurance, especially if you die when they're still young?

I have the lowest policy through the military. $50,000 and I think it's like $4/month.
I could do $400,000 for $29/month. It's cheap enough but I'm single, no kids. My mom is the beneficiary. If I had kids I would do the highest amount.

My wife and kid are expecting me to live long enough to be a good provider. Life insurance is to make sure I fulfill that even if I have an untimely death. Of course, I'd rather have enough money that I could die tomorrow and they'd be taken care of indefinily with what I've already earned - and they would be for a while - but unfortunately I'm not a 1-percenter and they'd be suffering in a couple years or so. The life insurance payout extends that runway to potentially help them cope with my absence.
