When it comes to something like an Uber/Lift ride, I happily tip because that person is using their own vehicle and literally chauffeuring me like royalty.

When it comes to my barber, I tip handsomely because she makes me handsome (and is using sharp tools around my head).

When I worked food & beverage/hospitality/retail, I never felt entitled to tips. Sure they were nice, but my day was never ruined in the slightest by not getting tips because those jobs always paid enough and when I felt they didn't I left.

SO Anyhow, I go to this coffee house regularly, it's truly a house turned coffee shop. Small business that I like to support. It's in a very, very nice neighborhood. Seeing a Ferrari or McLaren is not at all unusual in this district. I mention this becauseI've noticed the Clover software the shop uses automatically suggests tipping whole dollars at the point of sale.

I typically go in the afternoon to study (full-time student since lost my job), read, and just get out of the house to hang out somewhere.

While I can stomach the every other day $4 cost of my cappuccino, I really resent the idea of tipping for an espresso drink.

I've found this to be true of when I go to bars as well. Like wtf? You mixed some liquids in 20 seconds.

By the way, I recently learned these baristas at this shop average $24-26/hour.

How can I stop tipping them without getting side-eyed/publicly shamed/or even kicked out?
