Misc Navy Brahs, how do you like the naval life?

Cliff’s

- Graduated college in 2009

- At 23, working a lame security job out of college post-recession, started looking at other options for work/life

- I wanted to join the navy, possibly. I have asthma and got told no by all the other services. USAF said they had way too many candidates due to the recession. Army said no asthmatics are allowed period. Coast Guard said the same. Navy was the only one that gave me a small amount of hope.

- Recruiter told me eventually that I’d probably need to know some politicians and that it was still likely I’d be DQ’d due to asthma. I ended up going to grad school instead.

- Brahs, what did I miss? Always liked that branch’s history and tradition (dad was in the navy). Seems as if the guys who join are able to learn interesting skills and go to interesting places.

- All things in life come with bullchit and sacrifice naturally. I am sure there are downsides. I always look back and wish that I could’ve pushed harder or had more political juice to get it.

Prior Navy. I mostly look back with fond memories now, but the truth is...it mostly sucked. A lot of long hours, sleep deprivation, stupid BS, etc.

What type of job did you do? Enlisted or officer?
