Inflation Getting Reported In The Mainstream Media
Have NBC on while drinking my morning coffee and they just ran a piece on inflation in grocery prices.
They were reporting increases from 7% to 11% on some staples in the past year and announcements by some big brands that consumers should expect prices to increase 10% or better over the next year.
The reporter made the usual cost cutting suggestions, mainly to buy store brands instead. Except a lot of people already switched to store brands during the last big downturn in 2008 so that isn't a lot of help.
https://www.today.com/food/food-pric...-slash-t206302
Saturday I visited a local grocery here in MI that I used to frequent weekly and haven't really shopped in about 2 years. Prices were 25% to 30% higher from what they were then. The deli items that were on weekly special were priced around what used to be the regular price, and the regular prices averaged $12 a pound for various deli meats, maybe $9 or $10 a pound for cheeses.
They also said that energy/electricity is up 3%; suggested turning off lights and shutting your blinds to keep excess heat out.

Oh no!
What will all the people who get free groceries in the first place do?!
Govt is causing all of these economic imbalances with WAAAY over-funded stimulus packages.

But I would argue because of shutdowns affecting production and Biden perceived as being a spendthrift - this really destroys economic confidence. People are going to be wishing Trump back.

Means that too many people are noticing the increases for the media to just ignore it.
And I'm skeptical on 7% to 11%. 15% to 20% I might believe since I know that grocery prices aren't the same in every market.

Lumber is going parabolic, tradies are noticing. Then the MSM reports.

Buckle up, "transitory" hyperinflation is herehttps://www.zerohedge.com/markets/bo...nflation-ahead
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2021-...shed-inflation
the Federal Government has printed upwards of $5 trillion via its stimulus programs. And the Biden Administration wants to spend another $2.25 trillion for infrastructure, $2 trillion on climate change, $1.8 trillion for social spending via his American Families Plan, and more. All told that would mean ANOTHER $5+ trillion in spending.
Put another way, while the Fed played a big part in the money printing at the beginning, the bulk of the spending/ money printing and its subsequent inflation came from the Federal Government.
The last two times that inflation ignited as a result of government stimulus/ money printing were during Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR)’s New Deal in 1933 and Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society plans in 1964.

There's an article in the Wall Street Journal about it as well.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/consume..._now_news_pos3
And Buffett mentioned it in his annual shareholders' meeting.
Most MSM articles are calling it supply chain disruption due to COVID-19.

Per someone else's suggestion I checked out the pod/cube moving services. I used one of those [PODS] when we moved up from TX and it was about $1K. Now a single U-Pack cube which is smaller and has a lower weight limit is almost $3K. And then I would still need airline tickets for my daughter and I.
My personal financial situation makes me nauseous. I really don't know how I'm going to get through the next 3 months or so.

I was telling people this was going to happen about a year ago I remember making threads about it and some guy was even "debating" me saying we would see deflation not inflation lol.

I know food is up 20%, at least in my area(VA Beach)
I shop once a week and basically buy the same cot dayum things. My bill used to be $100-$110 consistently. It's now $120-$130. Beef has dramatically gone up, as have fruits/vegetables. $2 for a head of lettuce? $2.39 for a single pepper? u foking wut? It was like $0.78 and $1.50 before the scamdemic.
We've seen crazy asset inflation as well. Stock up up 50%, houses up 20-30% in one year, crypto up hundreds of percentage points.
Your house isn't worth more, neither your stocks, nor crypto. Your dollar is just worth a whole lot fooking less.
