How much do you tip your friends?

I was wrapping up a hang the other day, nothing too special, just getting yucky with the boys and I realized I didn’t have a ton of cash on me. Only a few fives. Usually I tip 10 or 15 for a good hang but I was a little short and I said I’d get them next time but my one buddy James got this look on his face and just looked out the window for a sec. kinda like he didn’t want to look at me.
Chit felt kinda off which was weird cause it was a quality hang, definitely in the 15 range. But like I said I made it clear I’d get them next time.

Anyway I asked another friend about it and he told me that James usually gets 25+ and has been kinda pissed cause with the pandemic and all he kinda expected me to be more generous.

Am I being stingy? How much do you guys tip your friends?

Bro I have been hanging with boys for years now and I always hate it when I buddy up with some guys for a long time and they don't tip me afterwards. I mean if you such an inconsiderate ******* you can't tip then why even hang out with dudes? I don't get paid much to do this so I rely on tips to provide for my girlfriend's son Jamal Jr (he's my world)

You tip your friends wtf? Are they friends or escorts/employees? Are you paying randos for "quality hangs" like a product? I have no idea wtf I am reading. You don't tip your friends like some sort of waiter, those aren't friends. I don't know what kinda sick chit this is.

Are you in europe? I know it sounds totally bizarre to eurobrahs but tipping is just part of the culture here in North America. I don't love it but there are some advantages like incentivizing better service.

My parents are British expats so they just slipped their friends a five now and then. When I went off to college I realized that isn't the norm so I've spent the past years just trying to do what's reasonable. Nobody wants to be that guy known for not tipping.

Yeah brah I feel you. I just wanna tip a reasonable amount to spread the wealth but do you expect 25+? I live in a big city but that seems pretty steep for a short hang.

I mean yeah it's good form.

If I invite a buddy out and we tear up the bars and have a fun night, usually get a fiver or more from them after. If no cash they send over on Venmo.
