I know she is not as thought of in this argument, but I saw Natalie Merchant from 10,000 Maniacs about 10 years ago in concert. It was basically a unplugged type show in a small venue and she was simply incredible I couldn't believe my ears of how great she sounded in person, without all the recording tricks.

But yes, I still say prime Mariah.
