I spent a few weeks driving around the southeast, and every single business had a help wanted sign up. Service was also pretty bad in most places, but I felt bad for the few people showing up to work actually trying, while being understaffed. That must be a nightmare.

All chit service jobs though.

fast food shops in my area can pay $15 bucks an hour. Why tf would someone work back of house at AppleBees for 9 an hour?

not just service jobs and food industry that's fcked, it's a lot of other areas as well. I see openings where someone working Data Entry gets paid the same as a Data Analyst. The DE doesn't get paid a ton, the DA just gets shafted hard. Companies don't want to shell out extra pay for the backgrounds they are demanding. They would rather pay us in buffalo wings and ultimate nachos

Teenagers no longer have to work fast food or retail when there is easy money to be made doing random stuff online and on social media.

Maybe these corporations should pay more if they are desperate for workers.

I'm actually onboard with McDonald's going automated and restaurants being self-serve and all. It's just lol to see this kind of behavior going on in the workforce

Self service and check outs are way more efficient. Next time you are at the supermarket look at the lines. 5 people will pass through self check out for every 1 staffed check out. You don't have wait for some senile grandma digging around for coupons and telling her life story to the cashier.

Man.....some of ya'll really gotta learn how this works.

America gets flooded with over 1 Million LEGAL immigrants every year - the labor market is flooded with tons of available labor, especially unskilled labor, making it amazingly cheap. Even middle class and upper class skilled labor is not immune to this due to the huge numbers of H1B and other "high skill" visa. This is done by the big businesses making huge campaign donations, hiring expensive lobbyists, and always fighting for MORE labor, MORE H1B's, MORE immigrants. It is to KEEP ALL OF OUR WAGES DOWN.

This is why they distract you with the fake issues of racism, BLM, or whatever else. So the people never come together and put a stop to the chit that is ACTUALLY making it impossible for regular people to have a middle-class lifestyle.

I lol at companies who pretend they're desperate for more employees, but refuse to pay more money. If you won't pay more money, then you're not desperate at all. You're actually just refusing to hire people

Sorry yall but the old system doesn't work anymore.

It's time for some good ole communism in the USSA - totalitarian government, removal of your rights and freedoms, and state mandated regulated organized and enforced labor of you.

You're gonna work where we tell you to work, when we tell you to work, as fast and hard as we tell you to work, and you're gonna like it. Got it!? Good.

Co worker said he made 300$ a week working part time serving pre covid

Since covid they paid him 400 a week plus 200 more a week for schooling to not work.

Why would he go back to work? Don’t blame him

Honestly I would be happy to see employers doing what employersshould bedoing in an employee's market; raising wages to compete. I've had a dozen or so recruiters reach out to me with job offers and either the pay is crap OR they give me this long speech about the company and their ethics, their philosophy on work, etc. but they refuse to tell me the pay unless I tell them I am interested. If it was a good job they would have offered a competitive salary and gladly given the numbers to you
